@@JBob-III sounds good in theory but due to the fact customizing your home normally only includes paint/decor. It should never be that expensive unless you’ve done light construction on the home which you’re likely going to remove before leaving cause it cost you a lot in materials. Most apartments let you do whatever to the walls as long as it’s no holes bigger than a quarter. I’m on my 6th apartment. Always done what I wanted. Never been sued. Just forfeited deposit

@@kittycat1302 Straight up. your comment should be taught in schools. I use to clean out apartments for my landlord. I knew EXACTLY what he was looking for. His wife was in love with my couch so I sold it to the landlords wife. I replaced, primed and painted. Steam cleaned and left that place better than any of the apartment I cleaned. Got dinged with an extra months rent and they took my deposit because I had "furniture left over" you mean the couch I sold your wife and left there so you can pick it up? as per our texts? Took him to court. Turns out the lease said 'no pets' which is illegal, so the lease was void. He had to pay me back 2 years of rent. Still never got my deposit tho.

Cats will often scratch your favorite chair because it smells the most like you. They are trying to combine both of your scents for marking. So while it seems fracturing to us, to them, it's letting everyone else know that this whole place is for you two. Place a short scratching post right beside the chair arm to give her something appropriate to scratch while still being able to combine your smells.

$400 faucet for "cheap & renter friendly" really giving those Hunger Games Capitol vibes Edit: To clarify- because people have some pretty snarky responses: 1 The faucet looks like a detailed Panem insignia, hence the Hunger Games reference 2 There was no indication that OP thrifted this faucet for cheap, only that the faucet is $400 MSRP and we know how misleading people can be with they way they phrase things. Additionally $400 for any faucet is far too much money, again, referencing the Hunger Games for how this is materialistic and overly adorned 3 it is not renter-friendly to replace a faucet unless the renter has experience plumbing. I've definitely seen a few people say "oh it can't be that hard" and then sit on the floor of their bathroom in defeat with parts of their sink scattered everywhere. My personal opinion? This is an ugly faucet that is overpriced and I can't imagine putting it anywhere in my house unless I wanted to move into the Clown College Student Housing.

Also, those puck lights come with strong adhesive to put them up and they are very much not renter friendly! They'll take part of your wall with it if you remove it! Neither is the other adhesive she uses in a couple of the projects.

"renter friendly" But you need to know that you are going to move at least 1 year in advance to have time to repaint everything and return everything to its original condition xD

For some people living in a beautiful space is very important. Having to get rid of these things one far far far away day doesn’t really matter. Most people live in a space for years. It would take probably one day to fix all of this back. And when she says renter friendly she’s obviously not talking about the painted walls. Changing faucets though takes ten minutes tops. Filling holes, also ten minutes.

Yeah all this is going to take ages to repaint. It's one thing to decorate your rented space to make it feel more like your own, but this is going to the extremes, to the point where it's financially foolish. Who would have the time or money to repaint all this? It's going to be a nightmare if she decides to move. @@barnes.and.nibbles

As a property manager I can tell you some of these changes/additions would be a breach of your lease. Do NOT change ANY plumbing or electrical fixtures without first consulting your landlord! And then get approval in WRITING!

My lease says the tenants are not allowed to change their own fixtures. Now, apparently this woman knows what she’s doing but many tenants do not… I have had tenants create thousands of dollars worth of damage because they attempted to change a faucet on their own, which ended up leaking into the apartment below and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage… I don’t recommend just anybody do this is my point.
@deedeebolen
@deedeebolen 7 ай бұрын
I don’t care how experienced the tenant is.. we don’t allow them to change anything.. it’s just bad business! Eventually, the tenant will claim that something “had to be changed… Their opinion of what the value of their work/materials is, is never going to match the opinion of the owner, it’s just a mess waiting to happen. If I see the tenant has changed anything in an apartment during their tendency, we have a serious problem! I make it very clear at the lease signing that absolutely NO changes are allowed!

@autopsyturvy

I'm not sure how strict your landlord is but even in subsidized housing, they told us nail/screw holes are fine, it's an easy patch job. To make it renter friendly though, try using the command hook strips or nano tape to hang things!! I've hung just about all my wall decorations with nano tape, besides what definitely needed nails, and it rocks. That little drip deco would definitely be fine with some nano tape holding it up.

Drilling into walls and replacing your bathroom sink is not "renter friendly"
@codieireland6542
@codieireland6542 10 ай бұрын
Always read your lease and discuss it with your landlord. Screw holes or nail holes are usually an easy fix and aren't against the rules set in the lease you sign. Since you can easily change the sink faucet and knobs back it's still considered ok because no damage occured and the original pieces are still on hand to make the swap again. Any renovations that are completely reversible and damage free fall under the category of "renter friendly". Just because you don't own it doesn't mean you can't put your spin on it while you're there as long as it isn't permanent or causing harm.
