I've always been bad at math- like most people. I think what made math hard wasn't the contents itself, rather, growing up it was people telling me it was hard. So I believed it was hard and never really tried. In Middle School I had my math teacher tutor me during lunch every monday and wednesday and then she'd tutor me every friday after school. That went on for two years. Freshman year rolls around, I'm doing okay but my grades aren't. I had a C for most of the year but finished with a B. Now it's Sophomore year and I'm here with a B again. I've had tons of people explain Algebra to me, but none of them, and I mean NONE have been as helpful as these videos. (I'm sure if I talked to my mum she'd let you be my tutor!! What's your acceptance rate?) I can't imagine how helpful you'd be as a live tutor. I hope you upload more videos!!

This is a very good video that summarizes most of the math content. Most of the content is explained but some is just referenced. However, there are some issues with inaccurate information/recommending strategies that are too long/not needed. Also, Level 4/5 should really feature more about the Advanced features of Desmos which are not covered in the original video. 4:42 The example problem is only shown on screen for less than 1 second? 5:26 "Angles on parallel lines from one another are the same" This is not accurate. Any 2 pairs of angles formed by 2 parallel lines & transversal are either congruent or supplementary; the video only shows a pair of corresponding angles but does not mention the other congruent ones (alt int, ss ext) or the supplementary (ss int). 5:44 The 180(n - 2) formula is for n sides, not n angles 6:31 Surface Area formulas (3-D figures) are not provided on the formula sheet and it appears not always provided on the test 8:31 The denominator is the number of Households, not Household wealth 11:51 The measure of an inscribed angle = 1/2 * measure of its corresponding arc, not the central angle since a central angle isn't always given in the picture whereas an inscribed angle always make an intercepted arc on the circle 17:19 Glad to see you're watching my videos 18:32 This problem is easily solved with Desmos 24:05 Disagree with this approach; it's quite easy to just pick numbers for h, k, j then plug into the answer choices. You do not need to setup multiple equations 24:26 These 2 example problems are not similar to the "which one is a factor" approach in that they use completely different concepts; the second one uses the properties or zeroes/sign switches 25:46 You don't need the discriminant; you can do this in Desmos in ~20 secs with a slider
@learnsatmath8 күн бұрын
Appreciate the footnotes! There are always things I'm not gonna catch and strategies I haven't considered. And also, I REALLY appreciate your compiling of old DSAT questions on your channel. They definitely came in handy when making this video. But I also have some footnotes for the footnotes: 4:42 yeah my bad editing lol 5:26 I wanted to mention corresponding angles without using the term itself (since the goal is to understand the visual, not the term). Alt int, ss ext, etc can be derived pretty easily from supplementary + corresponding angles, so I opt for the simpler explanation 5:44 every polygon with n sides has n angles 6:31 I'm only talking about area formulas, not surface area - I withheld that for later in the video 8:31 good catch, that's a typo 11:51 as long as you can relate the central angle to the corresponding arc, it shouldn't make a difference, but this is a good point 17:19 again thank you! 18:31 in hindsight, these problems should definitely be solved with desmos. I tend to be hesitant to promote desmos for the most challenging problems since it's always fair game for the SAT to give an un-desmos-able problem. If you're a high scoring student who can do algebra quickly, I recommend prioritizing the approach that is marginally longer yet guaranteed to work. But again, for real number problems, desmos is solid. 24:05 also a solid approach. Similarly to my desmos hesitance, I err on the side of thinking about the problem the way CollegeBoard wants you to think about it in order to better prepare yourself for weird curveball problems on the SAT. But for this one, plugging in numbers is faster and reliable. 24:26 you're right--definitely meant to put that with the polynomials but got mixed up 25:46 you certainly can solve with desmos, but I've found that the inequality and "least possible value for n" trips a lot of students up (they answer 290 or take a while to get 289). If you solve with the discriminant, you work within an inequality so n is very clear. Generally, I recommend using desmos for these types of problems and ultimately it comes down to what students feel more comfortable with, but there are problems that clearly intend for students to use the discriminant, so I think it's worth learning for an 800.

10:01 I think the answer is actually 11.5, it wasn't explicitly told that it's 150% *of 10* more than 10. For serious, would I be wrong to assume 150% was on its own?

@Player93pm5 күн бұрын
You do that in the US as well. The US educational system is kinda like college but in high school. You can pick your difficulty of classes or skip ahead etc. most kids that apply to a top 20 or top 40 college have taken at least AP Calculus AB which is calc 1 in college, and others take AP calc BC (calc 2) or AP Statistics(college statistics). I took the SAT after grade 10th grade. In 11th and 12th I’ll take college stat and calc AB and Calc BC. It honestly depends on your school district. If your in the hood or bad school district in the city/towns. Then the courses taken and academics are bad. But if your in a rich suburban school district the academics are highly competitive and complex.
@Player93pm5 күн бұрын
That’s why wage disparity and economic disparity is so high in the US. You have kids in gang violence unable to distinguish what continent the UK is in. While you have kids in rich neighborhoods creating startups, non profits, winning in international academic competitions and actually impacting the world positively.

@@homestudywastaken its First increased by 167 % which if converted will be 1.67 percentage. Now add it will 1 since it has increased . So it will be 2.67. Now the other was decreased by 16%. By conversation which will be 0..16 . Now subtract it from 1 since it is a loss so it will be 0.84. Now multiple (increased× decreased) so 2.67×0.84 which will be 2.2438 . Now minus it by 1 since it has asked about the net increased . So 2.2428-1 =1.2428 and multiple it by 100% . Since it is about the percentage . So it will be 124.28%
