Ignore the nasty and insulting comments. As a professional composer and music teacher myself, anyone who can play a tune (no matter how brief) on such a variety of instruments played completely differently from different families, deserves a medal and praise for their abilities, interest and dedication. Speaking as a woodwind player, recorder and fife ARE different instruments, albeit with similar notes. I'm really surprised by the bluntness of some of the comments on here from musicians themselves. They should be on your side and have more sensitivity, respect and drop the incredible rudeness. What they fail to grasp is not once have you said on the video you're a master virtuoso of any of them in particular, but you are demonstrating in front of a camera (very bravely) that you can actually play something recognisable on an impressive number of completely different instruments. As long as you enjoy it and keep the interest going that's all that matters. Bravo and keep it up!

Challenge accepted. Oh wait, it isn’t a challenge. Most instruments sounded bad in this video because they were either A) out of tune. B) her embouchure was weird. C) she didn’t try. So yeah, I can play 20 instruments. I can play many more than 20. I could even give brass a try. I can play Bb clarinet, Eb clarinet, alto clarinet, bass clarinet, recorder, taiko drums, piano, maracas, jingle bells, symbols, wood blocks, harmonica, snare, bass drum, violin, xylophone, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, marimba, and many more but those are just off of the top of my head. Yes, they are all instruments even though there are different types of one instrument family (clarinet family mainly; not woodwind.) I could play many other instruments if you handed them to me.

For all you people commenting about “quality over quantity” or similar sayings, I’d like to say that having a variety of experiences with different instruments isn’t bad, and clearly she can’t know each one as equally as the other, so she will end up being better at some than others, and having experience with other instruments can help her make connections and better learn music from what she takes away from each one. It’s like learning multiple languages, there is no disadvantage to learning many, and there will often be similarities between the different ones that will make you better at making connections, and more appreciative of them both as a whole and individually. I think she’s awesome for dedicating time of her life to experience such a widespread sampling of instruments. Also she’s frickin’ hilarious in the description.
@olliedylan13816 жыл бұрын
ferial dagher yes, variety is good, but do you really need to learn 8 different types of recorder.? 1 recorder is too much as it is. I’m all up for people learning music, Hell, I play guitar and piano, but when people try and be all fancy and learn the ocarina, it’s like... what’s the point. Like “yeah I’m just gonna hop on down to Hyrule and bang out the ocarina” But in all seriousness, it’s like learning 20 languages but only how to say “hello” in each. Would you not rather learn 1 or 2 languages in detail? I mean sure, good for her, it’s her life, who am I to judge, but I’m just saying from experience it’s better to keep your eggs in 1 basket, when it comes to music rather than rushing through every instrument you can get your hands on
@ferialdagher24706 жыл бұрын
I see where you are coming from, and I completely understand, as I myself play clarinet and piano. I just stated that people shouldn’t tell her not to play a bunch of instruments because it’s a waste of time or something negative, because they don’t know if she focuses on specific instruments or not, and as you can see she clearly does, judging off her playing flight of the bumblebee or other more technical songs on some instruments, while playing very basic songs on others. I just meant that she probably focused on some and would learn them completely while others she learned simply out of pleasure or to test if she wanted to play them seriously. I hope I haven’t come off as mean spirited or extremely defensive, I don’t mean to be rude, just another perspective here. Have a nice day!

When you learn a new instrument, you eventually reach a crossroads when you get bored of the instrument for the first time. That is an important threshold to cross. Pushing through and continuing even when it's not 'fun anymore' is what will make you better both at your instrument and as a musician in general. This video just seems to showcase someone who is in love with the idea of playing instruments, but just got bored 20 times.

I'd argue that you can only play an instrument if you're at an adequate standard at it, not just able to play a simple tune. Plus there's no way you can count the whole recorder family as an individual instrument because they are exactly the same to learn & play. A distinction is to be made between playing an instrument and being able to play an instrument- I play the clarinet as my main instrument but am able to play the bass clarinet as well because it's very similar, but that doesn't mean I play the bass clarinet as well

Most of these just made me cringe. I understand that you want to be able to say you can play 20 instruments; everyone does; but it seems like you bought an instrument, found a KZbin tutorial on how to play the song, put maybe 4 hours of practice into it, and then repeated process. If it’s just for fun why are you posting about it bragging about how many instruments you can play? I would be impressed if you could carry a melody without missing a note/messing up the tone of all of these instruments. But, surprise, most people can’t do that. People saying “she’s not an expert” I don’t expect her to be an expert I’m not an expert on the stuff I play but if you’re gonna post bragging about it learn how to hit the majority of your notes. Edit: and honey, you butchering how much pressure you put on the bow to your violin is n o t due to “the quality of [your] recording equipment”

The sad thing is that by playing 20 instruments at the same time you will never get very good at playing even just one . To get very good at an Instrument you most of the time have to practice around 2-4 hours at least every day. That's just not something you can do with so many . Now some may wonder , why one should want to get good at it ? It's because there is just so much more you can do if you can play an instrument well, it's way more fun than playing everything a little. I'd honestly just stick to 2 or 3 instruments but then really learn to play and maybe even get a teacher if you don't already have one . Some people will surely disagree with me on that but imo playing 20 instruments only a little is the same as playing nothing at all . At least what you played on the Violin and guitar is something one can play in the first one or two hours of learning and that's not really being able to PLAY an instrument.
@olympia47496 жыл бұрын
Seems like music is what you really enjoy doing but the issue is the quantity not the quality. It's impressive playing all these instruments but where are you really good at? Can you play a song without mistakes? Then you can say that you re playing an instrument right. Focus in playing without doing mistakes. That's the key. I play only piano but I enjoy playing recorder and accordion. Practice more Johnson and be the best!
@grace-ellenk58796 жыл бұрын
There are no rules for enjoying music and instruments. If someone wants to play a bunch because learning them is enjoyable, why not? You don't have to play without mistakes or perfectly to enjoy music. It may be for you, but not for her. Let people enjoy things the way they'd like!

@@janisschaumburg1841 Again, there are many ways to enjoy music. If perfecting one instrument makes you happy, go for it! If having variety and fun learning something new makes you happy, go for that! Why does everyone's enjoyment need to be policed because it's not what another would enjoy?
@lilliekennedy12936 жыл бұрын
Grace-Ellen K ok but there is a difference between making a sound on an instrument vs. actually playing it. If someone took my bassoon, blew a note and said they played bassoon. @leob44034 жыл бұрын
@@lilliekennedy1293 you need to get over your ego. I have played guitar for 20 years yet I see teenagers on youtube that seem more accomplished on the instrument. That's awesome that there is talent out there. Music would be a whole lot more boring if there wasn't prodigies out there. I don't see why it would take away the enjoyment I get from playing music, if anything it should enhance it. It's typical that you see people playing symphonic orchestra instruments get all snobbish and elitist about their instruments, that screams insecurity more than anything. Just because you could afford to go to fancy music school doesn't make you better than a self taught person. If you play bassoon at a very high level you should be content with that, what does it matter if a delusional beginner claimed they were proficient at it? That would be like someone claiming they could speak fluent Swedish (or whatever your native language is) when only knowing a couple of words, it would make me laugh more than anything, why would I be pissed?
