You're forgetting the fact that villagers don't sleep, they lay down to regain energy with their eyes open, while players do close their eyes as shown with the sleep animatio

I've never seen the player close their eyes when they are sleeping. Maybe you are talking about Bedrock Edition, since they can blink there. Again, plays just explode because Notch said so.

Villager doesn't need to sleep in the nether, since nether doesn't have day night cycle. And there's no nether mob that actively attacking Villagers. Yet Villagers sleep anyway just to spite the player

​@@samolivero5522 What if the reason villagers didn't trade back then was to appear harmless and stupid to players and after seeing increased slave rates they decided to trade again and after seeing that the illagers returned in 1.11 they convinced the player the illagers are evil and when they saw that new illagers and a raid mechanic came in 1.14 they made themselves useful to give players enough resources to defeat a raid

It appears to be velocity. Each dripstone in the stack seems to hit the one below it, due to the break update passing downward one dripstone per tick, allowing everything to slow down resulting in the combined hits being insufficient to induce death. The single dripstone, though, is able to accelerate to a lethal speed unimpeded in it's path. Velocity is a multiplier in the damage computation, not simply an adder; from my understanding.

If you activate the end portal, and put a water source above the portal, will the water go through or just move right through

Neither. The water can not enter the block containing the nether portal. It is occupied by the nether portal which is unable to be waterlogged except by a dispenser; which results in the portal breaking. Lava is similar. It can be flowed into a portal to light it but then it is not able to flow into the portal block and is held back.
