@DementisXYZ I know it sounds unconvincing but I don't think Chell was really in stasis for 50,000 years. Considering it's tied in with the HL universe, I think it's supposed to be 20 or so years as most people originally believed. It sounds weird to me that it might actually be that long. And I don't remember Glados saying that line....

@Rikushix I don't think so. It would have to be at least centuries for the vegetation to grow to the extent it did. Besides, several times, including E3, valve said it had been a few hundred years.

There's a lot of things here that didn't make it into the game or were rewritten. In the commentary for the game, they producers said that they made her originally outright pissed off and angry and Chell, but it was too much so they toned it down and made some things a little more subtle. A lot of these quotes were cut, and other parts were given to the "Announcer" character.

@maggosh Again, vegetation and decay like that would take at least a hundred years. Read the valve comic "Lab Rat." They explain that Chell was in cryostasis, meaning she was frozen in time. Despite the fact that she did not age, at least a couple centuries passed.

@DementisXYZ hundreds sounds a lot more likely. I just didn't think that we'd would expect the facility to stay like that (and the wheat field at the end) for 50,000 years. But that's just me. I did not know that Valve made a canon clarification regarding that. @Saraibre: I think it's been undeniably shown that the events in Portal sync up exactly with those of Half Life. The only thing we don't know is what specific year in the 200- decade the black mesa incident/Portal happened.
