@@IziqueMixes The way that Saint Pepsi sampled these songs was excellent, but in several cases all he really did was slow the songs down and just rename them. In other words, there was barely any real "sampling". What he did successfully was create a vibe by arranging all these sounds together and creating a new sound or brand, if you will. This remains his best album, especially when you consider the sampled dialogue from the movie. But if you want to hear what I consider peak sampling, look no further than Daft Punk's Discovery. The complexity and mastery with which they created entirely new songs from old ones is still unparalleled as far as I know.

@@NESherv True, but i mean you can pretty much say the same for most of the vaporwave artists out there. I think what i meant when i said this was that it was peak sampling within the genre of Vaporwave, not as a whole in electronic music. Obviously pioneers like Daft Punk are up there that take the credit for the best in that regard, especially when you consider a lot of this kind of music wouldn’t be popular with millennials within the Internet if it weren’t for Daft Punk. But yes i vaguely overstated with this comment a little, but i wrote it because Saint Pepsi got me into vaporwave and it impressed me. Beforehand i never really got into all of that vaporwave shit lol

@@IziqueMixes Totally! Yes, within the vaporwave/future funk genre, I would definitely agree that Saint Pepsi is one of the greats.

Seeing how large a portion of the songs are made of up samples makes it feel like cheating, but it's so good that I shouldn't really complain. I guess it's just repurposing old and forgotten music into something new, and people have been doing the forever.
@carsonplz86574 жыл бұрын
I've sampled some music and its surprisingly hard to get things to sync up and sound good and it's even hard to take one instrument from a song since you have to take out all other frequencies. To get things like this to sound good is hard enough to give them as much credit as a regular songwriter in my opinion.

sampling is harder than it looks. it’s about how you do it and how you use it creatively.

@MichaelJayification4 жыл бұрын
I would think that the "outro" was not sampled; probably either played it himself, or had someone play it for him; the synth chords are not hard for a pianist or keyboardist to play, and those chords and most synonymous with "enlightened, virtue" music, like the ending of a movie. I guess we'll never know! 😩🤷🏽♂️
