Today, I got started at about 9:30 am setting up a table for my all seasons solar cooker and getting some chicken thighs seasoned. This was its first run and I thought there might be a learning curve, but it heated up fast and started cooking right out of the gate. The day was very windy, in fact, we had 45 MPH wind gusts, but it still heated up to nearly 300 degrees, and had the chicken thoroughly cooked in under 4 hours. I’m completely impressed and highly recommend this solar cooker for everyone from entry-level solar cooks to seasoned solar chefs. You can find a link directly to this solar cooker in the links below.

That reminds me of "low and slow" cooking of pulled pork BBQ on a charcoal smoker. Steady temp there is 220F. Patience for fall off the bone goodness. Well worth the effort. Easy to see that a pork roast could produce good BBQ with a bit of liquid smoke. AND I wouldn't have to buy charcoal. I'm getting hungry just thinking about the possibilities. Those thighs sure looked good! Thanks for sharing. Hope you and yours have a blessed day. Godspeed.

That’s my thinking. I spoke to the inventor/owner after I uploaded this and he told me that he knows some people that bought the first ones in 1996 and they are still using them. So it appears that coraplast is way hardier than I thought.

The price has really gone up. I bought the original model off Jim’s site. It’s not as large and I don’t think he’s making that model any longer but it works the same. Good to have, for sure. I don’t remember what I paid for the square bottom model….around $80 3 years ago. I’m thinking he only had one or two left of the small ones left cuz he was going into making the rectangular bottom size. At the time of my purchase, there was only a few dollars difference between the two. I didn’t get the bigger one cuz I didn’t think I’d be able to get it outside after I put it together. Lol. I’m satisfied with the one I have. In fact. I think I’ll get it out and give it a go.

Regarding the bags - you used them perfectly. To preserve the bag, wipe it inside and out with a moist cloth. Hang to dry out of the sun. The bag immediately absorbs the moisture and becomes soft - which is what you want. The interesting thing about nylon, which is the material in this bag, is that it very easily absorbs water and very easily gives up its water. Without water, the bag will become dry and cracked (which can be repaired with any clear tape) The webstraunt store supplies the bags.

Thanks for sharing! I just bought one of these cookers. I love that it is designed, made & shipped by ONE man, not big corporation. Its affordable & functional. Jim LaJoie is the inventor. He puts his email address and his phone number on the instruction papers and invites customers to contact him. THAT'S AMERICAN! By the way, the circle on the SunSight is the "hour ring". Keeping the shadow within that ring, u can angle the shadow a bit behind and wait til the shadow is a bit beyond & that will give you about an hour before u need to realign the sun. I did my research on ovens too, and cant beat the All Season Solar Cooker for price, durabilty, simplicity & portability. Thanks again.

The cooker takes about 3 minutes to take down and refold. Since I full time RV and travel a lot, I take mine down frequently. It stores under the top bunk, out of sight and not taking up space. Setup is rapid once you know the drill. Same amount of time as firing up the old gasoline camp stove.

I bought the solar cooker that you used to recommend ( can't think of the name right now but it's the one that wasn't paying you like they should ) But I never had very good results. Then again I live in Michigan and the Sun only shines 3 days a year 🤪 I have to get it out and try it again and maybe put the pan in the bag, maybe that'll help. Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan

You are closer to the sun than I am. Because the cooker can be adjusted to perfectly capture the earliest morning sunshine, you can easily cook all year round. My "test" meal is two cups of dry pintos, 5 cups of water, seasoning, which I cook on the shortest day of the. year. Always works

Definitely an interesting cooker. The barrier of entry is quite reasonable and the owner/developer has gotten it down to where they can stamp out two cooker templates on one sheet of 4' x 8' of coroplast. Plus everything is flat packed in one neat box and if you told someone that it is a framework of a solar cooker; I bet that they'd think you've been talking to space aliens as of late. :-P Some might gripe that it doesn't come with this or that, but a little bit of not all too "common" sense (I bet KZbin will put me in timeout); you might already have some cookware laying around or pickup quite inexpensively at thrift stores or yard sales. It keeps the shipping and inventory costs to a manageable level along with being a good environment steward since pretty much everything can be recycled and/or reused. On the subject of food, I've seasoned my bone in chicken thighs with Tone's Garlic Pepper seasoning blend in a freezer bag and let it soak in overnight. I dash in a bit more garlic powder and pepper for a little bit more "kick" for my preference. When I see some moisture condensation on the glass whilst cooking is a good indicator time to check for doneness. I also use the rendering after separating the fat and use it to season my solar cooked rice. Surprising it makes a pretty good salad dressing too...

Hi, I've been solar cooking for the past 4 years. I actually made my solar cooker from a design I found on the internet called the Cookit Solar Cooker. Originally these were made with nothing but cardboard and aluminum foil. I wanted one stronger than that so I made mine with 1/8 " Masonite and metal tape like they use on A/C systems. It's held up well and only cost $16 dollars and a whole bunch of time. But then I'm retired so who cares. I also started with oven bags and then switched to 2 - 4qt. Pyrex mixing bowls. The glass does provide better heat retention vs. the oven bags. I have found that 3 hours cooking time will cook just about anything from chicken to a 3 or 4 pound pot roast with potatoes and all the fixings for a one dish meal. In fact I learned the hard way about cooking chicken. You'll never burn anything with one of these cookers but you can overcook it to the point that the meat will fall apart and almost disintegrate. That's what happened when I left it in the cooker for about five hours. Give yourself a little time and I think you'll find that these things do really work well. They will work well year round but here in El Paso where I live I really like to use it during the summer so our house doesn't heat up so much bu using the house oven.

I’ve been solar cooking for a dozen years or so. My first one was homemade and like everything I do, I overbuilt it to the point that it was so heavy, I had to put casters on it to move it around. My next oven was a solavore, then an all American sun oven, then the all seasons and then a Haines 2.0. I love using all of them.

You did it again! Another generator muffler video, that bottom pan must not have cooked thru, didn’t let us see the final product and since you didn’t bother to cut one open for use to see, I’ll ask what everybody’s thinking, was it cooked thru to the bone? I am betting those bones were pink! Just giving you a hard time! I love that plastic cardboard stuff. My dad use to run a portable sign company and we used that stuff for everything, very resilient and if treated right weather and UV resistant.
