I really like the slower ambient leads over the heavy 8 string depth.. and I like what the 8 string has brought to the sound.. almost brings like a meshuggah element to the texture of the sound.. cant quite describe it, but its pretty sweet..

@ixrxthethorn i think it's not about the fact that if someone uses an 8 string he has to do technical stuff. Some bands just want to use very low notes to create a particular sound (like deftones) Obviously there will always be bands like suicide silence that are just pointless or like the acacia strain that just want to be more aggressive on breakdowns using a lower tuning I think that the fact that ASP are doing 5 songs out of 12 with 8 strings give them credit for not being like those bands

@AllShaaaallPerish i guess everyone has their own opinion. to me, ATD is way above TPOE musically. but TPOE is more "brutal" and appeals to most people who listen to the music for the breakdowns and heavy riffs. I think the vocals on ATD is really good. i like the high power metal thing he does in a few parts, i dont think ANY other death metal band could pull that off.
