Arnel 🙏 please answer my doubt. 💙 Can we use duration with the future continuous tense Ex- “I will be working there for two hours" Or should we use the future perfect continuous tense instead because of that two hours duration "I will have been working there for two years." I'm asking this coz we don't use duration with the present continuous and past continuous Ex- I am working for 2 hours ❌ I was working for 2 hours ❌ I will be working for 2 hours ( is also wrong ❌ I guess) Am I right Arnel? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi dear Arnel! In this video you said that the present simple can be used for a scheduled future event. I got it. However, I have a question. Can I use the future simple for scheduled future events? Why or why not? Is it possible to explain that? Thanks a lot!
@ArnelsEverydayEnglish2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. Yes, it's grammatically correct to say: The train will leave at 9 OR The movie will start in 10 minutes. However, it's more common to use the present simple for these situations. Usually "will" adds emphasis to a sentence and many times with scheduled future events the emphasis is not necessary. I hope this helps! :)
@nguyenphuonglinh8812 жыл бұрын
@@ArnelsEverydayEnglish Wow, That's so clear! I understood it. Thank you so much! Happy new year! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
@bilal46213 ай бұрын
I think we use "present simple" for a scheduled event to emphasize that it's a routine task or practice... but when we will use "future simple" for a scheduled event, it may or may not give a gesture of routine task... that's why, we mostly use present simple for scheduled future tasks...

Thank you very much for the lesson, Professor Arnel. I learn a lot from your videos. These days I was watching news on an American news channel and I saw the following sentence: "Video shows police chasing knife-wielding man at West Hills McDonald's". I was in doubt about the meaning of "knife-wielding" would it be an adjective? Could you make a video about these adjectives, as they are a bit confusing. Thank you Professor Arnel! 🇧🇷

Great question David! Yes, "knife-wielding" is an adjective. It is describing the man. These adjectives are called compound adjectives. There are quite a few compound adjectives with "ing" words. Many BITTER-TASTING foods are good for your health. She is looking into buying some SPACE-SAVING furniture for her new apartment. This would definitely be an interesting video topic!
