The editing here is phenomenal; every scene flows smoothly together, while still showing each scene as separate from each other.

This is why the japanese dub is always the best. I take for reference that one moment when Rauru finds his wife dead, you can feel the rage and anger in his voice, and that is absolutely not the case in other languages...

This is much better than the English dub... Zelda's actual concern for Sonia's death instead of a very fake reaction, and Ganondorf's more unique laugh... Wow.

Hmmmmm, I've always understood that -dono honoriffic was reserved as a formal address to one's superior, so I wonder why Rauru here seems to use -dono as a replacement of -san, like how he addresses Link and Zelda?
@KhristianPlays Жыл бұрын
I think the major reason is that Rauru really respect zelda and link that's why he always use -dono to them
@claucolato8261 Жыл бұрын
'-Dono' was mostly used by samurai to refers someone else in a very formal way, but it also means that a person respects you so, SO much. That's why Rauru didn't use '-san' for Link and Zelda. Because he really respects them so much. Also Rauru speaks in that very formal and ancient Japanese way, so it's normal for him refers to others like that XD
Ganondorf sounds realy scary in the Japanese verison

@@VaguelyRowlet And so is "Thank you very much"... which, y'know, is what she actually said.
@citrusella-nomorecraptions11 ай бұрын
@@Hambs23 It's possible they thought "I don't know what to say" (6 syllables) fit the mouth flaps slightly better than "thank you very much" (5 syllables) for either the reasons of the phonemes it contains or the fact the mouth moves for at least 7 of the technically 10 syllables in ありがとうございます。 Dubbing is a weird discipline sometimes because they have to balance the literal translation with whether or not they can do something fitting that matches the video. TL;DR: Translator unfortunately had *two* jobs. XP
@Hambs2311 ай бұрын
@@citrusella-nomorecraptions That makes perfect sense, but well, in that way I think even "You have my gratitude" to work better, it's closer to the original and it has 6 syllables (unless I counted wrong?). I know dubbing is more intricate than regular translation since lip syncing is a big deal for immersion. But I don't know, it just doesn't sit right to me to make the subtitles the same as the dub when it doesn't perfectly match the original dialogue. But alas, currently I'm losing my mind at Granblue Relink's awful localization. We're at the point of "translating": "Hmm. That's new/odd." ("ふぅん。めずらしいねえ。”) to "Um. Does anyone else feel like the space-time continuum just broke?" And that scene was just voices over text on screen, no animations whatsoever.
