Could you do a video of the older flagships, like 10 years ago, and see how they stack up towards todays sticks. I’ve been curious how the those sticks from awhile ago would even compare against the lower and mid tier sticks today.

This is a video we’ve been discussing for ages ! Issue is.. finding the sticks ! We’ll do what we can but I 100% agree! Let’s make this happen

Have you guys thought about doing a durability score so it doesn’t interfere with the shot/feel if need be?
@HockeyTutorialOfficial5 күн бұрын
We discuss which sticks went soft, stayed solid (lol) and or broke in this video. Durability is a difficult area (super important I know) to review. Because it's even more subjective than all the other points. ice surface, size of player, skill of player, games/scrimmages per week, contact vs non contact hockey, how bad the ice rink boards are (seen so many sticks broken by gaps in boards).. So many elements will have a massive impact on durability excluding if the manufacturer has done a good job. See what I mean ? Happy to take suggestions on how to include this more. FIRE AWAY KZbin !

@ that’s a good point, it definitely varies on different types of players and stuff. Always great breakdown videos either way

Have you guys ever did a (what kick is this?) blind test. Give him some low kicks and some mid kicks and see if he can spot the difference. In todays hockey stick world, the low kicks guys are slowly moving it higher to get a little more power on the pop, and the mid kick guys are lowering the kick point a little for a little quicker pop. I feel that the stick companies have leaned so much into the “optimized” terminology to make it sound like it’s a crazy new technique. Have they blurred that line so much that it’s now thicker than a red line? Tommy can answer that haha.

I love that you guys do this, I think it’s a huge benefit to people who can’t get their hands on everything offered.. but I have one critique.. every time I hear Tommy talk about “feel” it’s either that a stick has feel or it doesn’t. I think he generalizes feel just a bit too much. For example. I think the Trigger 7 Pro had absolutely awful feel. (It’s a soft blade construction) which I hate, because I felt like I had to look down all the time. But I think the Hyperlite series have fantastic feel. (They’re hard as a rock) which I love, because there’s so much feedback, and I never had to look down. I think feel is such a huge part of breaking down a stick, that it needs to be made less subjective. And given a blade softness/stiffness score. Or atleast gone into a little more detail. Because Tommy is clearly a solid player who knows what he’s talking about. But so was I playing a top 6 in college. Yet we have drastically different feel preferences. Just a note. Love you guys ❤

Since the trigger 9 pro is dead now, could you show us if there is actually a different layer of material in that blade?

If you want another stick to throw into the mix, a company called Coast to Coast Hockey Shop out of Vancouver still makes two piece sticks and I really like mine so far. I know two piece can be a touchy subject for performance, but snapping a blade and getting a "new" stick for the cost of a blade replacement is still a fantastic deal for someone living a hair above paycheck to paycheck lol. They have their own shaft and blades that they promote work well for both ice and ball hockey. I use mine for ball hockey hockey and its made my shot far better than my previous Sherwood. Plus I was able to get a blade option I actually like (similar to PM9) easily but they also offer the more popular curves. There aren't a lot of reviews for their stuff, but the stuff I can find outside of my own experience tend to be positive.

I have the same issue with the ribcore... you have to learn to break it at day 29 of the warranty and go exchange for another new one.. being a centerman, taking all the beatings off faceoffs is what breaks the blade. I've only ever broke 1 stick in the middle of the shaft area from shooting

What's the first place stick? It gets covered by a recommendation.

I've removed the recommendations at the end. Thanks for the heads up. PS: all 3 sticks are top for 2024 based on their ranking ;)

Really sad that CCM continues to put helicoid blades on all top specs of each lineup. Honestly still love the FT5 pro going strong after 2 years with it!

I keep telling this but, I really do feel like the sherwood would always be in the top if he was taller. he cuts these really short and f up the kickpoints.

Maybe he should try an intermediate stick with that height XD

Would you say the Nexus 2n pro xL is still a stick worth getting in 2024?
@BobbyJoseph-d1n5 күн бұрын
Yes it's a very good stick, probably the most popular stick in the NHL, pro stocks are built with better quality, and the curves might work better for you. They are also cheaper too.
@BobbyJoseph-d1n5 күн бұрын
The vapor ADV and Agent are still popular among forwards, but so is the 2n Pro XL.

Honestly these reviews are mostly useless because all those stats are meaningless if the stick breaks within a month or 2. I would rank durability as the highest priority when im spending 300 on a stick

Could you get other players to add their opinions? We all love Tommy, but he is the player he is and I feel like everyone would love to see what a defensive player whos the total opposite of Tommy, has to say about these sticks. I watched the video over again and it’s awesome but it would be even better if we had a guy who actually uses mid kick sticks to offer an opinion. My friend who plays D, tried the Hyperlite 2 and gave his thoughts, which were completely different from the sticks owner. The owner touched on the puck feel and stick handling, while the D-man talked about how it loaded up quick and he was able to side step on the point to get a quick wrister. A little aspect that a power forward in close wouldn’t be able to tell you.
