That makes my name a capitonym. Raven is my name but a raven is a bird

Great video as always!!! Was very excited and very pleased to see someone talk about contronyms and aptronyms (my favourite nyms) :)

Thanks! It's hard to pick a favorite, but I've always had a soft spot for retronyms

I just had to watch this again; it was so good. I hope you take this in the positive spirit intended, Andrew, but the KZbin algorithm is doing you way dirty. 34K subs is nothing to sneeze at, but I know that there's a massive KZbin audience out there who would love your content. You're just one video away from blowing up. And it just might happen with a video you've *already* created (like this one) catching on. Anyway, your long-time subs are (selfishly) rooting for you, m'man😁

Well done, Andrew! Your sublimetastic eruditian connectification with words of nym is true nymophileonym... wut?🤨 Those are words........ ish😅

I won't be dim next time on a beam at gym for I know everything about words that end in nym

This was delightful. I became completely lost amongst the nyms. I'll just have to watch again. 😁 How many times did you say "word(s)"?

Thanks! It looks like 21 (if I stuck to the script, that is)

Ah! The hypernym-hyponym distinction I finally understand! It doesn't help me that here in New Zealand there is no pronunciation difference between the two words (we are non-rhotic).
@WritingwithAndrew5 ай бұрын
Hooray! Yeah, that probably wouldn't help, though

What use does a researcher of words have with a chemistry lab? Are you applying chemicals to the nym to create new words? 😄 That would be really fun to do, honestly, if it were possible.

You mean you don't use strong acids to analyze etymologies? If there's a cheaper way, do make it known 😆

Yes, the Paulista/Paulistano distinction is meaningful in real life but I don’t think it’s known to every Brazilian.

Ha, good to know! It's the kind of thing I read about in grammar books but never really heard maintained in regular speech. Guess I won't give up on it 😉
