Good job being accountable 🌼 For my 2025 reading goals I will keep the AAPI and non-fiction books I didn’t in 2024 read on my TBR and keep the goals of unhauling a book for each book bought or acquired and reducing book purchases (using LFLs and library) as well as buying mostly used. I think I will also challenge myself to read a book on my owned TBR for each book purchased. Overall purpose: spend less, own less, and read what I own. Also I want to keep my LFL supplied.

proud of you that you bought fewer books, woooo! :) At First Spite is great. I have also followed Joanna Robinson for a long time, but I'm really tired of the MCU so won't be reading that (not shitting on it, but like with Star Wars, my brain feels bored and like everything is a cash grab and a commercial ouroboros eating its own ass :P and can't emotionally connect anymore). Also, damn, I need to read some Ira Levin, I had no idea he also wrote A Kiss Before Dying -- i loved that movie as a kid! merry Krampus, Ashley, happy reading!!! and yeah, totes agree, best of lists belong in January!!

I totally get being tired of it! I think there is too much of it now, honestly, which is why I'm behind. I wish they had been a bit slower to expand, or not expanded that much at all. Too much of a good thing. It's the people that dismiss it like there is nothing worthwhile about it at all that really make me genuinely angry. I have gotten so much joy and emotional fulfillment from being an MCU fan. I'm just sick of it. Like what you like and don't be a dick about the rest! (Thank you for not being a dick.) OMG Merry Krampus! I'm going to say that to everyone this year. What a missed opportunity.

Ready or Not was one of my favorites of the year! But also, I did read it from the perspective of being a parent so, mileage may vary for others. Also, Serpent and Dove is fun, I DNFed the series overall, but I don’t regret reading the first. And this is so hard to watch because while it’s been my best reading year since I’ve been keeping track (at 79 books right now!) I’ve also purchased soooo many more that I’m not ready to face.

I actually like reading books about being parents! No idea why. Re: Serpent and Dove, that's what the person who brought it said! I think I'm cool with DNFing the series and just experiencing the first book. It's okay to buy books I think you are doing great!

I actually don't want to think about the amount of books I've bought (and not read) this year...

I don’t recommend it unless you are looking for a wake up call.

I mostly met my 2024 reading goals - 150 books read in 2024 (goodreads goal) - unhauled almost 200 books - unhauled a book for each book bought or acquired from a LFL - and reduced purchases (using LFLs and library) which were mostly used. I updated Goodreads TBR by deleting 2700 books I was not being realistic about reading or rereading one day. I didn’t meet my 2024 reading goal for 12 non-fiction books (read 7) and 24 books by AAPI authors (read 14) although I did read 24 new to me authors. Not bad I guess.

2700! That's so intense.

I can't gel with Barbara Kingsolver at all. I threw Demon Copperhead at the wall, I just find her dreary. I used to love C J Tudor when her books were set over here (UK) and more crime/mystery themed. Since she's gone paranormal over the pond she seems wishy washy. Its a shame. Someone asked me my fave read of the year and its All The Colours Of The Dark by Chris Whittaker. It made me cry and I don't often cry at books. Have you read that one yet? Loved the two main characters in it. I'm currently on Grey Dog which is good too. I'm buying no books for the first half of next year. I have no more room unless I get rid of my bed and sleep in the shed... but there are eight legged bastards in there. 🔪

haha oh noooo I've never read CJ Tudor before and have no idea what to expect. All the Colours of the Dark is on my TBR! I'm on hold for it at the library.
