Three stars is not a bad rating! I personally feel like you shouldn’t have more than 10% of your annual reads be 5 stars because I treat five stars like other people treat their “six stars.” Four star is LOVED. Three is, like you said, I liked it and had a good time. ITS NOT BAD!!!

I like that you don't even try to sugar coat anything and don't shy away from saying you didn't understand a book. I respect that. I definitely felt dumb once or twice whilst reading something. Great video ❤

Yay a wrap up! For me 3 stars means I didn’t like it that much or I thought it was just ok, and there were multiple things I didn’t like. 4 stars for me is how you described your 3 stars, but I don’t think people should be giving you the side eye for not liking a book! (Even though you did like it)

That's literally how I rate books too, but except my ratings are just out of 10 instead of 5, however, they're still the same. Like 6/10=3/5 or 9/10=4.5. So, I understand why people make think 3 stars isn't a good rating (based on how we view 3 stars), but like you said she shouldn't get hate for it. It's her opinion. Like it's not that deep.

when it comes to rating books, I use 3 as a neutral ground, meaning I didn't love it and I didn't hate but I enjoyed it. sometimes i'll go back and re read a 3 star book to see if my opinion has changed but usually i leave at least a month between that so i have a fresh mind going into it.

If you want a darker read that seems similar to The Cellar, you should read The Butterfly Garden. That’s a book that is definitely more adult & more unsettling

This is how I rate books 5 stars = "this book changed my life/i will be re-reading it until I die" 4 stars = "amazing/classic/would recommend to nearly everyone/not quite in the elite top tier tho 3 stars=really enjoyed this book, above average but didn't leave me breathless 2 stars= average to below average book that did nothing for me 1 star= poorly written/too many plot holes/ too long or too short/just a mess

Fantasy is THE BEST! It's like escaping your own world and being a part of someone elses. I love how you get to paint and imagine the world with your own pictures. I'm currently reading the “Dance of Thieves”-duology and I'll highly recommend it to those who have read some fantasy before, but maybe not to those who just got into fantasy. But it's an AMAZING duology! 👀

Wild idea and I genuinely don’t know if I’d be able to do it myself. But we don’t have to rate a book. And we can still count it as read. I know it sounds like I’m being a smart ass. I’m not. I didn’t (and wouldn’t) go after you over a rating on Goodreads. My only problem with 3’s is more often than not, I see people give a 3 and say “it’s not a bad book.” Months later: yea, I really didn’t like that book. My advice to people wanting to take recs from others, learn their reading and rating habits and adjust accordingly. But no one should ever go after another reader because they did or didn’t like something the same as them. ❤️

I didn’t like red rising that much (I did give it a 4 for the ending though). But the series does get amazing! I’m currently waiting for Iron Gold to be ready from my library. I’d recommend reading and listening to the audiobook. Like at the same time. It helps so much! Bump the speed up. You’ll understand the lingo better. And you’ll laugh at the jokes! And I gave the second book a 5 stars because of that. I used to do this trick for Ap Lit/ Lang. So you should also do that for your classic books such as Frankenstein and Dracula! That’s what I did to read Frankenstein. It wasn’t bad. I hope that helps someone out there!👍🏽

I hated it too. I pushed through because of all of the rave reviews, but it’s one of the worst books I have ever read. I know everyone has different taste, and I’m genuinely glad people enjoyed it (I wish I had been one of them!), but I truly don’t understand how anyone liked this book.

Bro I DNF’d Mile High too! I think I just had REALLY HIGH expectations, the book was cool, but at the 70% mark I was just sooooo bored and then the 3rd act conflict happened and I was just over it ☠️ I might try to finish it tho
