The 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is the best, Colin and Jennifer will always be my Mr. Darcy and Lizzy! Enjoyed seeing what you will be reading this year and just love how you will not let Ben be reading The Mirror and the Light first! lol. Thanks for sharing, so many good books! 👑📚❤

👑C. J. Samson - yes! Jennifer Ehle - yes! I just placed a hold on “Hunting the Falcon” and I suspect that book may be a singular moment in my reading journey this year. (I tend not to plan, just follow my instincts 😊)

Ohmygosh, we literally have the same interests in books. I love have been obsessed with the Tudors for years. I own every nonfiction book that Alison Weir has published and I just purchased Hunting the Falcon a week ago. I just uploaded my very first Booktube video where I mention my favorite Pride and Prejudice and I will definitely be talking about books on my favorite Queens at some point. I do own Flora Fraser’s Queen Caroline and highly recommend to grab it if you can. She also wrote a bio about Emma, Lady Hamilton (Lord Nelson’s mistress) that also was good.

I've made it a little 'challenge' for myself to listen to all 37 of the Poirot books on Libby. I'm now up to book 5, and will read over the next year or 3. Really enjoying them, especially as narrated by Hugh Fraser and David Suchet (from the tv series ofc! 🙂) Should also read the Miss Marple books at some point!

Hi Claire, I’m a new subscriber!! I started a booktube channel recently myself. I studied English in college so I used to read mostly classics, both for school and in my free time, but now I’ve been reading more genre fiction. I’d like to get back to reading more classics (I have a ton on my tbr lol) and also the 1995 P&P is definitely superior 💖

Claire, your passion for history and reading is most endearing, I just love letting it inspire me in return!! Last year I did really good at setting TBRs for myself, but it wasn't really working this year, so I've succumbed to full-time mood reading! Have been on a horror fiction rut lately, and become OBSESSED with Shirley Jackson 👑

I'm new 👑. Been binging your videos for about a week. I can always find content on manga which is a passion of mine, but its rare to find good content on classics and history...my other passion lol. Agatha Christie is AMAZING. Classic horror is my jam. Im also an Austen junkie. This year I'm reading Steinbeck and finally tackling Mansfield Park which, to me, has to be her most difficult book 😵.

Hi Claire, I'm Kate and I live in Guiesley, Leeds. I love Jane Austen, The Tudor period, The Brontes and Thomas Hardy. I also love cats, Bettys cafe and tea. I love listening to audiobooks on Audible and I have some of your recommendations on Audible already. I'm going to listen to George III and The first Iron Lady biography. I too am a big fan of the Wolf Hall Trilogy and also need to listen to The Mirror and The Light. Reading and listening to audiobooks distracts me from my physical disability and I love learning about different eras of history. Love your videos. 👑 x

Many years ago I read a trilogy of Catherine de Medici by Jean Plaidy , the Italian Woman, Queen Jezebel and Madame Serpent. I learnt such a lot about Francis 1 , Mary queen of Scots was at the French court then and of course all the religious /political intrigues. I can really recommend them just having reread them on kindle.

I got that edition of The Complete Novels of Jane Austen too. If you like reading about the georgians i can really recommend King's Mistress, Queen's Servant by Tracy Borman. It's about Henrietta Howard who was mistress to George II. I bought i when I visited her house Marble Hill last summer. 👑

Hi Claire, I'm an American, and also a history nerd, but I tend to read more broad social history rather than biographies of specific families and figures. That being said, you've made me curious to read even more non-fiction! The First Iron Lady sounded really good to me, but I'm wondering if you'd suggest it for someone with less familiarity with European royal history from that time period. Do you think I could jump right into it, or do you have any suggestions for similar books for newbies?
@adrienne40289 ай бұрын
👑 The history book you held up about King George lll look like something I might want to read. I’m in American and we get a pretty skewed understanding of George lll since he was the king during the American Revolution. Thanks for all your other recommendations too. Happy reading.😊

Hi Sandra, have you tried changing the video play back speed to 0.75x? You can slow the video down to help. Google’s closed captions are also really good now but I also edit them to make sure the video is more accessible. I appreciate my style of speaking isn’t for everyone but this is what’s most comfortable for me when filming so I hope the above tips help!
