Hi, I spent a few years in England courtesy of the USAF. My first car was a little Ford cortina and I quite liked it it got me from A to b. When I needed a new car I purchased a n reg Renault 17 TL. The looks of that I thought were amazing. But it had transmission problems that I had fixed once, then fix myself the second time and sold it. My next car was a Austin Rover 2300s. The sd1 was one of the most beautiful shapes of cars I've ever seen. But the 2300 decided to wipe its crankshaft out of the belt. Now the wrench of the Renault was jdb 550 n and the Rover was cud 978y. Sorry the some of them are capitals I'm using speech to text because I have to. But I wish I still had that Rover!

Thank you for sharing your memories of British cars - it's interesting to get an American experience of the cars at the time here in the UK. I too had a 2300 SD1 and mine 'blew up' as well - I think it was one of the weaker engines in the Rover line up at the time. If you liked this video check out Part 2 which includes the Rover. Cheers, Mike

We're always remember our first car - no matter how bad or good it was. Sounds really like the Allegro was a very expensive car ... so the Allegro can get you aggro when seeing the repair bills, hehe. My second car was also a VW Polo breadvan but in burgundy colour. 108,000 miles in 4 years is really a challenge. But it also means it was driven on long tours. Nice deal to sell the Polo for 1,500 and getting the Audi for 2,000 pounds. Interesting that sometimes we're buying cars once again. The Sapporo is really a beautiful car - especially in this colour. I always wanted to have a Peugeot 309. I like the design. The 405 were comfortable cars. That's something Peugeot did right for a long time. Renault 19 - loving the style back then with the black tail lights. Oh, the Vauxhall Tigra ... I heard mostlikely women were driving the Tigra over here. Really a lot of cars. The Mondeo sounds really very reliable. The Zafiras have been very popular over here. Same about the Toledo - I can't remember when I've seen the last of these Toledo. The old Zafira I am still seeing from time to time on the road. Beautiful XJ. Loving the series with the square headlights. I heard the Astras didn't feel as fast anymore compared to Kadett (Astra Mk2) When a VW has electric problems then it can be really hard. A colleague of mine has a Golf Mk4 which he got from his grandpa and doesn't want to give it away. But it is also starting to have electric Gremlins and VW can't find the problem. Yesterday I wanted to check a Jaguar X-Type 3.0 - was looking wonderful until I opened the doors. The sills were badly fixed and at the co-passenger side really looking like the next MOT will be a costly problem. It only had 72,000 miles so I was thinking what can go wrong ... didn't expect that it could look this bad. Alfas are looking amazing - but unfortunately not really the most reliable cars. I was thinking I had a lot of cars but I didn't expect to see such a long list here, hehe. Have a nice Sunday my friend

Thanks for watching Sven. I did this list as much for my records as the channel so I'm glad you found it interesting. Scary - this is a tiny number of all the cars. Parts 2 & 3 will feature all the other - the total is around 100!!! But I'll spread the videos out so they're not back to back and do more 'normal' videos in-between. Have a great Sunday my friend. Hiya Mike, My Dads first car was a MINI 800CC, we went down to Nottingham in our Mini and came back up in a Morris Marina 1300 after that it was a Austin Maxi 1750, after that it was A Vauxhall Cavalier 1300, it was combat green the Lambougreeny we called it, then it was a Ford Granada 2800, my Dad got that for free when my Granda got a new Rover 218, after that it was a Rover 216 EFI, that car was unreliable, after that it was Proton 1300 after that it was a Volvo 740 GL, that car got written off my joy riders that crashed into the back of it, then Dad would just get little run arounds get like 1 year out of it and sell it on, now Dads got a 2016 Nissan Leaf, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England

You certainly went through a lot of cars - I'm the opposite, i usually buy something i really, REALLY want (in a high spec & which often breaks the bank) - but i keep them for a very long time Some of the cars you've had were quite dreary (sorry!) - did sporty options not tempt you? (esp as you rode Bikes too - i thought you'd long after performance cars!)

You're right - a lot were very ordinary as these were the daily drivers. The BMW M235i is probably the quickest. Part 2 coming in a couple of weeks lists all the hobby and classic cars which I've owned alongside these daily drivers so there may be some interesting stuff in there. There's also a Part 3 of 'everything else'. Yep, I've got through a lot!! Thanks for watching

Which garage supplied the second Mondeo new? KH was a Hull registration
@OldCarsNewVan
@OldCarsNewVan Ай бұрын
Oh - I'm not sure - as it was a company car it was sorted by Head Office so I guess they had a preferred supplying dealer. I wasn't living / working in Hull

@OldCarsNewVan Fair enough I just wondered as I live on the edge of Hull, it was probably Sanderson Ford as they were the main dealer for Hull at the time but could have been Beverley Ford or Richardsons

You say you got the wrong 800 , you did you should have got the 827.🤣Fantastic engine. I'm not surprised you didn't like the 309 after the 800. The 405 was a pleasing looking car. The Chamade were not a bad car. The XJ40 was year was that? Was it the sovereign 3.6 or 4.0. Looks to have the metric wheels in which case it was the 3.6? Is that picture the actual car and colour? looks nice.

Hi Glyn - thanks for watching - I wasn't sure this would be of any interest to anyone other than myself🤣 The XJ was indeed the 3.6 - it was either a 1991 or a 1993 - memory isn't what it used to be! Yes, lovely condition car. Cheers, Mike

@@OldCarsNewVan The 4.0 XJ40 was introduced in 1990 so i would have thought it was no later. I have just taken my anorak off. I always liked them and still do. I agree with your reasons for doing it if nothing else for your own satisfaction and record to look back on. I found it interesting as i am sure others will.

That's kind Glyn - thanks. Parts 2 & 3 - I'm going to space them out with more current videos on the Rover, car show I'm doing next week etc etc - rather than just posting subsequent parts back to back which may get a bit 'ground hog day'. But it's been really interesting for me to log them all so I've really got something out of this creating a record. Cheers, Mike

Agreed - i think the 827i was a Honda V6, wasn't it I had one, and the engine was great - but the gearbox was 'Possessed" and evil, it would occasionally change down gears, when cruising on the Motorway - which is scary when it decided to drop down to 2nd gear . . . . whilst doing 80mph Needless to say, it had to go as the repair to the transmission was too much - but the motor was faultless & very powerful
