My 2 cents (from an Armenian): Yes, Armenia came very close to winning this game. However, Ireland dominated the game pretty much the entire 1st half, and could have scored more. It's obvious that overall Ireland is a better team right now, and they deserve to be in group B more than we do as of right now. Congrats Ireland! Beautiful country (Cork, Blarney Castle, good old days)! Some positives for us: good team spirit, excellent young talent, and these are some of the things that lead to a bright future.

there was no penalty, because there was no corner, so actually VAR still doesn't change anything, we got beaten unfair and earlier in the game Irish player should've got a second yellow but the referee realized he was on about to sent him off and immediately stopped reaching for a yellow, it's actually funny you can watch the replay, after this episode the Irish coach subbed this player right at the moment, so)

It just goes to show how delicate this project is and I wish people would accept this, those young lads work well together and you could see how the rhythm was disrupted when Molumby exited. I didn't like Jeff Hendricks play last night either, he was there because of Cullen being suspended. But let's give credit on the Robbie Brady selection on the left, have to say I liked his interview afterwards, full of maturity which we need. I guess my point is if we just tried to stop poking holes in the plan and see the positives we could be much better supporters of this development. A blind man can see the progress especially considering what the team had to endure during the covid nonsense which took away the 12th man (fans) and bogus PCR tests etc before matches. Ireland more than most countries rely heavily on the fans because of our limited resources. I speak as an individual who built up an office of 65 registered reps on wall street, looking back I probably hired a few that in retrospect I shouldn't. This commentator is awful, according to this short video. For Armenia's first goal, he attributes lack of concentration in Irish defence. I would say defence was concentrating and trying to think fast but ultimately got overwhelmed. The second Armenian goal he says the player "just stepped in" to take the ball. If there ever was a display of lack of concentration it was that awful missed pass that led to Armenia's second goal.

He is right though. The two irish CBs and the LWB were very high up because Ireland were dominating possession and they stopped tracking back. Irish defence basically switched off but Armenia took the first goal very well! Second goal, Hourihane passed the ball to Armenia. All he had to do was take a free shot with no defence on him so it was him and the goalie BUT it was an amazing shot and a fantastic goal so full credit to Armenia for doing this. Honestly, I think any team that does this is exciting and the problem with Armenia is they are giving teams too much respect. They have players that can score from anywhere... their job should be to play counter attack faster and get those players the ball to shoot and I think you can do very well as a team!

Away to Scotland, yes Scotland had posession but Ireland all the clear chances. Frasers shot was Bazunus only save and the winning goal was a pen handled by Browne. If having more shots in a game matters than people should just shoot from anywhere, none were certainly near Bazunus goal. The game in Yerevan was desperate. If they didnt deserve to lose then im glad they did because they were desperate. Last night was incredible as it was the most one sided game ever seen yet Armenia scored 2 goals.

Ireland only raised their game against Scotland. This team isn't the best... don't have anywhere near the quality Scotland or Ukraine have. But, if they can get their intensity back to how it was... they have a chance to be competitive in Euro qualifying

As an outsider Scotland are as average as Ireland. Very very little difference between these types of teams. Scotlands players are very average besides maybe 2 or 3 who are good but thats it. Ireland historically have always been a harder team to beat than Scotland because their style of football was very physical (the Italians like to play this style too but have far better players). But now they changed their style. They even beat Scotland 3-0 only a few months ago and Scotland scrapped a win at home to Ireland, needing a penalty to win so really there is no difference even when Scotland are on the up which proves my point. think most bigger teams will find ways to beat them as usual. But Scotland now have a better chance of doing well, but its a golden generation for them so best of luck I think. Ukraine.. well, much bigger country with more players going through a war so its emotional times for those guys now.

@@LeMerch Ireland don't have the quality just now to match Ukraine or Scotland. Scotland weren't anywhere near their best, but still won 2-1.. Ireland were probably at their max level. The 3-0 wasn't a realistic game. Ireland just don't have enough quality players. Scotland have players playing at yhe highest level every week for Priemiership, Series A and Celtic and Rangers. Ireland haven't got anything close to that just now. Ireland need get back to basics.

I find it funny to be honest, the Scottish seem to think all of a sudden they are Brazil compared to Ireland and then I look at the teams they play for: you both are similar levels. That’s why they beat you 3-0 in Dublin and you scrapped 2-1 in Glasgow. You didn’t play your ‘best’ because Ireland didn’t let you. Tierney- Arsenal, Roberston- Liverpool, McTominay- Manchester United, Patterson- Everton, Adams and Arsmteong- Southampton, Hickey - Brentford after turning down Arsenal and Bayern. Celtic and Rangers both play in champions league and Rangers got to Europa League final. Not to mention the players coming through all play at City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern. IRELAND have noone even close to that just now... all play in Championship, League One and half of them are English. There is a huge guld between Scotland and Ireland my friend.... come back to reality. Ireland 3-0 win was a fluke. The 2-1 was without Scotland playing anywhere near their best, but that was Irelands best... they still lost.
