Hey Erika! No worries about thw white stuff on your tera cotta pots- it's "petina" (spelling?), which is minerals that get washed out of the plant after watering. if you want, you can clean it off with vinegar and water, but it isnt necessary. It won't harm your plants:)
@ErikaLodes4 жыл бұрын

Lovely collection! Tip for the “Spring Cactus” which as you mentioned is an epiphytic plant. Since they grow under jungle leaf canopies they are adapted to indirect bright light or dappled sun light. Where you have it sitting, it gets scorching sunlight. The other ones in the metal stand escaped the same fate because they are hidden behind the column and under porch cover. If you move the “Spring Cactus 12” inches toward the house it should be good.

Has anyone talked to your plants? I do in the morning and night time. I stopped for like two weeks. I noticed more yellow and my spath blooms that were coming died! Everything else was the same other plants were affected. Now any time I am in that room I just have a conversation one sided of course.

I leave my asparagus fern outside all winter because its just in too large of a pot to move now, and it comes back every year, and it dies off completely. It also gets full sun all day. I feel like that helps it. The Plant Farm has 2 types of Orchid Cactus for sale, I just potted up 2 cuttings I purchased from them of their Golden Orchid Cactus. Super excited for it to grow. Thanks for the tour! I'd been waiting for it after the cleanup video.

Loved seeing all of your outdoor plants oh my goodness that thai constellation is looking very well indeed! Loved all your plants outside they are all looking great. Spiders like them are a very good way to keep some bugs away and some of the nastier ones too, the plant near the azalea is a hibiscus and I love them I have a pinky purple one and it is flowering now but lost the flower it had on it. It is one of my earlier bonsai and is looking good. I don't know much yet about azalea , yet lol, I have a white flowering one. I think they die back after flowering, bonsai masters take all the spent flowers of the plant to reduce die back, mine is nursery, or pre bonsai and I want to give it a go as bonsai, they are more work than some of the other species. I really liked the video and keep them coming as it is so good to see them in my feed after a rough day. Have a good one, 😁
@lindseysgreencanvas4 жыл бұрын
Where I live in the southeast, azaleas proliferate most people's yards. I have a pink one in my yard. My neighbor did a bonsai thing with hers (she's a transplant to NC) and it was so weird to me. I had no idea people did that with them because here, we just let them go wild basically and then they get cut back in the fall for the next year. After they flower they do look a bit rough because of all the energy that went into the flowers, but in less than a month the plant puts out so much new foliage and it's just a happy little bush for the rest of the summer.

I love Sansevierias. They quickly show me they are happy and do well for me. All types of babies galore from varieties. I notice they do more when kept in glazed pots than plastic nursing pots. I don't have any in terracotta because soil dries out quicker and I notice sometimes in terracotta water alot and still doesn't reach all the way down though it doesn't stay sitting at top either. It can be deceiving in terracotta because The pots itself can be wicking the water I believe so water in some doesn't reach the bottom. Maybe soil is too compact, I don't know. But usually it's too late when I notice this happening.

Hoya pubicalyx: This could be fungus (possibly). I may suggest inspecting the roots asap, and try using fungus-killer substance (mix with water to water the plant as well as spraying). Normally fungus is caused by either root rot, too much humidity, lack of sunlight, getting from transmission in air/other plants... In Asia where humidity is high we are always encouraged to bring plants even low-light ones outside for little bit sunbath at least 1-2 times weekly to help them photosynthesize & kill the fungus. Of course it can also be other problems. Just my first guess.

Ok so I just finished with your outdoors house plants, you moved a lot outside. I don't remember the point and finally am able to leave comments. Not sure about pics or not, if not I'll explain. You showed a diffenbachia which looked really good taken care of which reminded of the one I have but was in a pot along with a maranta (prayer plant) that I just seperated into their own pots. Looks like I can't show you a pic from this site but maybe another way so I'll just say for now. I think I really shocked the 2 plants especially the maranta, it looks like it's on its way out. It was doing really well even flowering now and then. If you have a weather app that you can see what the weather is anywhere you want, would you look up Peru, Indiana and see what it says could you be kind enough to give me your opinion on bringing some health back to my maranta. I know it may sound like a lot but I do value your opinion and would hate to loose this plant, it was one of my favorites. If I can find a email I'll try to send pics that way.

Erika and anyone in plant zone 10 or in similar California weather, did you have problems with Peperomia plants. I've had three varieties red Rosso, red something else, and I don't remember because they no longer exist. I kept them inside and I can't figure what keeps them satisfied. I don't know what I did wrong or right but they all died at different times. Hesitant to get any Peperimias since I don't want to unknowingly repeat the same mistakes and end their lives. I guess I can do without since they are slow growers and tend to stay small. Yet I still ask myself: Can they really accentuate my space? Add anything to my space? Do they have something that any other of my plants or a plant on my wish list doesn't have?
@plantingitreal4 жыл бұрын
I know you’ve been doing these videos for a while and I don’t want to step on your toes(so to speak) but for my pepperomias they don’t like to dry out. I tend to loose leave on mine if I don’t water them in time. I have a few of mine in leca and the others in plastic pots. I think I need to transfer my scindapsis into a clay pot, because the keep getting a yellow leaf every time I water it, and I water it when I see the leaves curl a little bit. It’s still in the plastic nursery pot I bought it in. Is your leibling plant a snake plant?

Plant yellowing like your Hoya is confusing because those are signs of getting too much sun (usually if I don't find a crispy brown dead leave I assume it's not too much sun), NOT enough sunlight, nutrient deficiency. I don't think that's ever an issue since I have slow release and dilute a liquid fertilizer at least once a month but I can be wrong. Also occasionally I throw in a little to each pot some of my used coffee grinds, powered or puree eggshells.

The nutrient deficiency your plant has is a magnesium deficiency. If you put one teaspoon Epsom salts in a gallon of water over. Of time that will take care of that problem. Magnesium and sulfate or what is in Epsom salts and magnesium is in Port for chlorophyll production so that's why it's not evenly green

Oh I just got some fruit from Monstera deliciosa but I am too scared to eat it. I've been researching how to eat and I believe half of the fruit is ready but what if I'm wrong. The plant and fruit is poisonous UNLESS you eat part of the fruit at the right time then it's describes as having a pineapple-bananna, pineapple-coconut taste, pina-colada. @@pacmoon14 I water it maybe once a week or once every 2 weeks depending on how dry the soil feels.. So I brought it back outside to get more sun so hopefully it uncurls but i really want it to be an inside plant.
@ErikaLodes4 жыл бұрын
It’s funny that you’re getting the conflicting info bc I was going to say the same haha. It really could be either! Whenever you water, check with a moisture meter first. When the soil is dry, then water. Usually moving your plants to an area with less light, the soil dries more slowly. It might need less water than you are giving it. Also make sure that there aren’t any bugs on the plant bc that’s a possibility too! I hope this was the least bit helpful. Good luck!
