I usually use obsidian as my tool materials because the durability is a lot more than iron and then add a glowstone tip so that I have a free light source

On one hand the Jaffa gear is pretty strong early game, but on the other hand it makes your character randomly scream "Jaffa kree!"

There's a clever little trick that will instantly reveal the presence of mimics, and you don't need any special ability or loot item to do it. The mimic is still a mob entity rather than a tile entity when it's disguised as a chest, so it's usually going to be either facing the player OR positioned in a block-illegal way (like facing diagonally or not being perfectly aligned to the block grid). If you see a diagonally-facing chest or a chest that isn't perfectly aligned like normal chests, gear up for a fight. Speaking of chests, did you know that (with the corail treasure seeker perk? I always go for this perk first so I can get more rare drops from mobs, so I dunno if this is the cause or not) if you break the lootr chests and barrels to get the chest/barrel you will also sometimes get free corail scrolls as a bonus? And speaking of corail scrolls, they are useful for the effect cards that go into infusion pylons. The pylons are infinite-range, interdimensional beacons that have 9 or so slots for effects, so if you wanted to you could make an infusion pylon dedicated to oresight. The pylons are not as restricted in atm9 as they were in 8.

It takes quite a while to set it up unfortunately which is its only flaw. Like seriously crafting that thing takes so long and you also need to have progressed through the nether in order to have obtained it.

Storage scanner works fine with chests, just set up normal chests. For sophisticated storage they upgrade as singles anyway. Having said that I know you said you prefer how the barrels look and I like how you've set up the initial storage hub. Looks great!

For those who aren't aiming to jump right into RS or AE2 systems for storage, with sophisticated storage you have the ability to put filters directly on the barrels themselves. You can do this via a filter card, but many of the functional upgrade cards (compacting, compression, hopper, void, etc) also have filters attached to them. Additionally, sophisticated storage has the ability to reserve slots for particular items so if you reserve all the spaces in a barrel then items you don't want in that barrel can't go into that barrel. Another really nifty thing of note that even comes from vanilla is that chests/barrels renamed in an anvil now properly retain their name in-world/when you break them. I'm pretty sure this means that the rftools scanner will see this name and use it, giving you a nice way to identify your storage.

HUGE freaking Stargate nerd here.. I watched every episode of every type of Stargate they made plus movies. Was sad when it ended too. I’m happy someone has taken the time to be quite accurate in the mod. Yes, the rings were awesome in the show! So much in atm9 to learn (for me). Overwhelming. Learning what all is available..what to do. @evilcraft is wicked… fun. Mystical Ag is confusing. So is trying to figure out how to make pink slime uhm liquid and liquid meat..

The rftools scanner gets really overpowered when you use it with 10 netherite chests with 4 or so diamond stack upgrades :D also the tablet is really nice since it works across dimension (I think, it worked in ATM8 haven't tried it in ATM9)

You could use more chest if you want extra space and a void upgrade to void extra armor and tools with nbt/meta data if you don't want to clog up your chest with them. But for stackable items it's super good

In the old version of the mod---when it was just the Blood Moon and Harvest Moon events---the only thing that would change was the color of the moon

Unlike the other bloodmoon mods, Enhanced Celestials bloodmoons are pretty tame. Mobs will spawn more frequently (at a reasonably increased rate, making blood moons very handy if you need to do some quick mobhunting), but they are otherwise not any harder. More importantly, they can only spawn in spots they would otherwise normally be able to spawn. To defeat this completely...just light a really big area up with torches. 6-8 chunks in every direction is downright peaceful, because mobs at this distance basically no longer wander or even have AI (it gets turned off to help the game run better).

I love how ATM handles exploration, its not required for most things but if you spend your first couple weeks in game exploring while setting up your base you can find some NASTY loot, i found 7 perfectly rolled unique apotheosis gems already in my world and ive only been playing it for abt a week in game (ive somewhat neglected a base tho, havent found a decent location yet)

Mostly to comment, 2:40 you say you need torches, if you had flint and steel you can actually light the lamps that are not lit in the dark area. I am sure you know that now of course. Also interestiing place your stargate landed on the desert planet, mine was true to the movie and was placed inside a big pyramid. at least in the one game I got so far, I keep restarting as I learn new things, bad practice I guess. anyway watching the video again a second time and wanted to comment. And let me say, I like the way you show and tell how things work, I have picked up a few things I was not aware of in both this video and the next one. So I hope you keep that maybe slow paced explantion of the mods, I really like to learn about them, most other players of atm9 that I have so far seen tend to jump over it assuming the viewer eider knows the mods or is not playing and so is not interested. But I am new to a lot of the mods, and especially to the mod pack, so I really really appreciate the way you take time to "show and tell" about features in the mods.

Chosen can you make a short vid about mods that are no longer being updated that you would like to see brought back, an attempt to bring them some love and revival. I am super excited seeing ender io and draconic evolution returning and things weve got back like project e, but still miss things like thaumcraft, mystcraft, icbm and even parts of mods like thermal expanssion item ducts or buildcraft pipes (i miss seeing items fly about), and many more. Lots of mods from the 1.6.4 - 1.12.2 - atm3 ish era that i feel were super fun have lost support. I dream for a pack with all of the biggest best mods, in one version. A true ALL THE MODS

Those solar panels upset me so much because they just don't scale well at all. I like the generator augment for iron furnaces, especially with a speed augment and a charcoal farm.
