Charlie could have easily been arrested for breaking and entering, trespassing, or even stalking in MHM since he was LIVING IN THE WALLS of a house he didn't own and had never met the owner of which is SO CREEPY and Nancy treats it like its nothing and is never resolved in the end.

Very true!! And I was so close to including him on this list, but my thinking was sort of that he didn't get away with it because Nancy caught him. I'm assuming he did end up needing to tell Rose and Abby, but you're absolutely right! Major breaking, entering, and trespassing!

Not only that, but there is probably no need for him to even be there. The postcard we find suggests that he has a good relationship with his parents, so he may be able to live with them in Iowa and go to college there. I see no need for him to live and go to school in San Francisco. Fun fact: Secretly living in someone's basement/attic/crawlspace/etc. while the homeowners are still living there is a crime in and of itself. The word for it is "phrogging."

I mean assault charges would be applicable I would think. Or something along those lines, and something to the effect of misuse of a prescription medication. Jane was drugging Linda without her knowledge with prescription medication. At least in the US I think there would be a charge that could be found. But she’s a misunderstood kid with trauma so she gets away with it.

Headcannon/spoiler barrier #1, thank you for the fascinating content and sending me down a rabbit hole of questions. It’s always been a personal headcannon of mine that Dylan didn’t get charged with anything and had all the “show up before anyone knew” things happen to him because he was undercover investigating the black market for either Interpol or the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt. I know there is no evidence of that in the game, but it makes a meh character a bit more interesting. I was surprised when I did a bit of googling on truancy laws. It turns out in the good old US of A, the age is 16 in most places. So as long as Kim is over 16, it’s not illegal. Is it right, no probably not, but what is interesting is if they are over 16 but under 18, Rachel and Kim’s parents could be charged with neglect of a minor for failing to secure a place for both girls somewhere. (Also my personal headcannon is they had to both complete all classes before being allowed to graduate, but that’s just me.). It also does not matter if Tino was on duty or not. Planting evidence is still a crime punishable by six months to a year in prison. Tino should absolutely have lost his badge and Nancy could easily face charges for concealment of evidence tampering. That could be an interesting video, what could Nancy be charged with…

And he goes against his employment using expensive materials, (though honestly go Colin for sticking it to the man). To add onto that, Margarita paying him much lower than he was worth (is it even minimum wage? We dont know) under the threat of blackmail and destroying any chance he has at a new life.

That's an interesting case, and I think could be an example in a different video - one about ethically grey characters in the Nancy Drew games. Given how hard it is for many people with criminal records to get and keep even the most menial of jobs, one can be empathetic about the desire to start afresh. Colin's use of better quality materials than he agreed to is also a grey area, since he may be going against his employment contract but he's doing better work for the benefit of history and craftsmanship. It's certainly less criminal than charging for top quality materials, buying shoddy supplies, and then pocketing the difference, which is all too common a form of fraud!

Well, Nancy herself belongs on the list for petty theft alone. Ransom of the Seven Ships has to be considered the only game where Nancy flat out lost. The culprit not only got away, but she handed him the treasure. It would be horrifically bad writing for Nancy to be defeated, then have the culprit conveniently get himself killed, just to make it appear to be a win. That's not to say it couldn't happen, only that it would be terrible writing. Let's see, didn't some of the suspects in Secrets Can Kill commit crimes? Didn't the Hulk steal steroids? Connie didn't commit a crime but she broke the rules of the Judo competition she was in, and escaped the consequences.
