I can't say I'd put Mel as high on this list as she is, but I will say that I enjoy visiting her whenever I play this game. She's a breath of fresh air from the other girls, and she reminds me of many of my high school friends, haha!

Mystery of the Seven Keys has everything! I'm getting ready to replay it. I wasn't aware how much I didn't pay attention to. I wish I did because I wouldn't have died so much trying to find an antidote. Lol! 😅

I love the classical Era. It has a good balance of what I love. I always like more plot lines and stories and music rather than puzzles. However the classic Era has just enough puzzles to keep you interested, with a good balance of story arch with music

i pretty well agree and think i mostly like the spooky and darker ones though there's definitely some others too like Waverly. i think TRT is pretty much in the right category, i'm a bit biased but i thought maybe it could scooch up a few places for the dead-body-looking shape in the dungeon and the historical angle portraying the Queen as a tragic young figure killed for her husband's misdeeds. overall still more cozy than scary but i remember the odd figure creeping me out as a kid and the story of Marie seems pretty tragic in this telling.

It baffles me how they looked at all of the games that people put so much heart and love into and really gave character, and said “Let’s change everything and people will love it :D!”

i liked Fox and Geese and felt like once i understood the rules it was easy but then there's a lot of puzzles not mentioned i could never do and am so impressed others can. Also, i love Scopa... The mice puzzle i just like because i like mice and it made me happy to see them moved to a nice new home when many people are a lot less kind, sorta inspired me as i now envision a little home for them as part of my dream house's yard. I didn't mind the mini golf either. My most frustrating were number and science puzzles, i still can't believe Castle Malloy kinda literally gave us rocket science! I wholeheartedly agree to the criteria of "difficult at the end when we just want to get to the conclusion" that was a point i had with Midnight in Salem, most of the puzzles were really easy then all of a sudden at the very end they were difficult and i had no patience for that, plus why would they be designed that way given the context? Why risk hurting the person you were saving things for? That's just careless and made no sense to me.

the first so many times i got stuck was actually an incompatibility issue XD imagine the emotions when i realized i wasn't terrible at the games, my computer was actually running them too slowly! though after that i've definitely looked up way more hints than this. i remember one of my frustrations when looking for hints was often the puzzles i was ok with were the ones everyone was talking hints over and the ones i couldn't figure out no one seemed to have an issue with so there was little to find! I did allow myself to use hints if i was too confused and frustrated mainly because sometimes i had spent YEARS stuck on a game (not just Nancy Drew) because of some small thing i didn't know about/couldn't do and i figured i'd rather get to enjoy a game than have to put it aside unfinished for a long span of time ^^;

i feel like i never hear anyone mention the alluded to abuse that Fiona suffered after moving into the bog hut, like i get it's dark and her story is already tragic but i also feel weird that it seems to get ignored. CW as i explain what i remember was the insinuation The woman in the bog didn't know how to care for children and had her own mental health issues. this is why she couldn't really help Fiona with socializing and things. Along with this because she got overwhelmed and didn't know how to/couldn't handle caring for a child she would sometimes keep her in a cage. you know that cage with all the gnats you have to get an item from? yea...

I almost thought about mentioning the phone charms that Yumi gives in SAW, but idk if that would count because Nancy has to make the bento to get it! Also, I hope your Christmas was amazing! 🎄

Such a good point about the twin plot twist. I normally HATE that trope as it is never executed correctly, but WAC blew me away with their introduction of a twin. It’s so easy to write off what the girls say about Rachel as exaggerated gossip!

I so agree with the first four they were my first four games (7, 5, 4, 3) so the nostalgia is strong. It's before the puzzles really started to pick up. Could you do a video on what Nancy Drew game to recommend to certain people? As in, game 5 is amazing but not "typical," for someone who wants a typical ND game. Game 4 is amazing but my guy doesn't do foreign languages yet The Deadly Device has too many puzzles for the average person🤷🏻‍♀️ I really like game 7 but that critter search would end some people. This might be too hard to quantify but if I only get one shot to introduce someone to the series, I want to guess right haha

It was within the past year that I finally put the dots together on the Captive Curse scandalous detail. I remember being a little weirded out after I played it because I went, "wait, so there's no real monster, then what was that thing in the opening cutscene with the girl?" but the more I thought about it--the fact that we never saw the "monster's" face and this immortal monster wasn't real--the more it made sense. I think the worst part is finding the scarf from Renata's sister in the dark tunnels underneath the castle. I think the game tries to attribute this to "oh, the wind took it down there," but no, Renata's sister was likely abducted and taken beneath the castle to meet a terrible end. That is *horrifying* and because people attribute these disappearances to a monster, they don't act because what are you going to do against a monster? Young women have been vanishing for well over a century near that castle. That's messed up.
