As an option for amp with no dedicated slave out use a stereo chorus or delay or rack effects processor with 2 outputs in the Effects loop. Then the loop return still allows the local amp to run wile you push the split signal to the higher power power amp. I've done this before to get more headroom out of a lower powered amp and maintain good clean/ dirty tones

Alright here's what I want to connect somehow. Jubilee 20 watt combo amp. With built in speaker. It is connected to a 16 ohm jack. The amp has other speaker Jack's respectively including 8 or 16 ohm and 8 or 4 ohm Jack's. I don't want to use an extension cab just a power amp to get more power. The amp has an FX Send and Return. It also has a D.I. out. I'm looking at the Magnum 44 power amp by Electro Harmonix. It has one input for the signal then a speaker out which must be connected to a speaker load. So do I connect it like this...??? Do I need to use my captor X rated at 8ohms as well? Is the D.I. out the same as a power amp out...on the amplifier. D.I. out from jubilee combo amp to input of magnum 44. Magnum 44 speaker output to Captor X speaker cab input. Remember there is also a speaker in the combo amp that is already connected. Will this allow me to use the Magnum 44 to increase headroom Will this defeat the internal speaker... How can I do this without the need for an extension cab???

KSR PA 50 is a dynamite LBX power amp that kickass.
@MetalheadOv666 Жыл бұрын
50w tube power amp isn’t really a lbx power amp. That thing is super loud and keep up with a band just as a 5150iii 50w head will. A Powerstage 200 is nowhere near as loud unless you’re playing through a 4ohm cab to get the 200w. If 8ohms it’ll be 100w and 16ohms is like 50w. Even the 200wdoesnt sound as good as a 50w tube power amp. I’ve had all 3 Powerstage power amps and got rid of them all. The Powerstage 700 was loud af tho

I have an Amped 3, but its volume isn't still enough despite it runs on 100watt. Amped has a dedicated Out (wich I suppose it works like a Line Out of the preamp); The question is, can I send the signal from the Line Out of the Amped 3 into an External Power Amp like this and than send it into the Return Loop of the Amped to increase the overall volume of the amplifier?

I actually had an idea to make a video like this a little while ago. I've got a few amps that I was going to do a blind test with. (orange cr120, 6505+, XXX, bandit, chorus 212, etc) "6505+ preamp into 10 different power amps" Just to see how much the power section affects the tone. There doesn't seem to be many comparisons out there on the topic and the comparisons I've seen aren't the highest quality (camera mics and bad audio) Once I have my conclusions from that comparison. I'll do the opposite. 10 different pre amps into my favourite of all the power amps I shootout. I'll hopefully record my mad science experiment next week after I have my YCS50 for a EL34 candidate Would love to see you make a similar comparison video \m/

I know Boss did something like this, but would like to see an affordable no frills power amp with a reactive load built in, so you could just plug the speaker out of a lunchbox head into this device then out to your cab(s) and leave it at your rehearsal space/take to gigs, then take the lunchbox head home with you. Of course the same could be done with your proposed torpedo + powerstage solution you mentioned.

@regor5150 Жыл бұрын
Ok either I'm confused as to how you did this, or this video is misleading. Did you bridge both speaker outs into the same input jack on the cab? Or are you running the amp head out into 1/2 the cab, and the SS PA into the other 1/2 of the cab? Because if that's how you wired it up, then your perceived volume increase is simply because you're going from 2 speakers at a time, to 4 speakers at the same time. And of COURSE you're going to get a volume increase. So that's not really proving your point here, IF that's the case. I'd wanna see a comparison between the amp head going mono into the 4x12, and this half and half setup.

Yah. it's called amplifying the preamp of a full amp a second time and combining them.
