Most of the goodeids are imperiled & are not terribly difficult to keep in the aquarium. If not these, there are plenty of other species that could use the help of a caring aquarist that can build up their numbers in captivity to relieve pressure on wild populations. Thanks for watching!

Hi Anfrew, I am just starting a Fish room for goodeids. I would like to dedicate some aquarium space to the Skiffia, if I can get some stock. I am not having much luck with that out here in WA so far. Any chance I can tap you as a potential source? For fish and/or information! Thanks! These videos are helping a LOT! Guy
@ElMetaldeAleman5 жыл бұрын
Great Video! Sadly all Skiffia apart of multipunctata are very hard to get here in Germany. Would love to get some francesae.
@AndrewPiorkowski5 жыл бұрын
It is basically the same situation here, only a few keepers really of the species outside multipunctata. There is a guy selling francesae for a ton on aquabid right now but the source is unconfirmed as pure francesae from the original Kingston collection. Finding these fish can be extremely tough!

Do you know if skiffia can crossbreed with guppies? I am setting up a new tank and want to branch into some goodeids but I have some panda guppies rn and don't want to cause any interbreeding. I could definitely return the guppies to a LFS. Also, love your videos, super interesting to learn about these fish. Thanks!
@AndrewPiorkowski5 жыл бұрын
They definitely will not interbreed with goodeids. Guppies are actually pretty common dithers for a lot of the smaller species. For me, I am raising baby Characodon in one Endler tank & baby C. peraticus in another. Guppies are actually in a different family, Poeciliidae. Thanks for watching!

Another great video mate still trying to source them but im not rushing lol im not sure my floors can take much more weight Hey random question for you in your experience do your zoogonetics tequila eat fry i was feeding and one of my Males ate a fry that was going after a small piece of blood worms
@AndrewPiorkowski5 жыл бұрын
Zoogoneticus will definitely eat fry if they are given the opportunity. Once a colony gets large enough they tend to leave babies alone. I originally raised my fry separately for a number of months before adding them back to the main tank, after that the presence of a few new babies went more unnoticed since there were more distractions. Best of luck with them!
@seanootd34065 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewPiorkowski hmm might have to get another tank just for fry then until i get a larger colony then thanks for the advice man really appreciate it
@AndrewPiorkowski5 жыл бұрын
@@seanootd3406 I am raising some fry in a 1 gallon jar although at various times I used a small plastic storage bin on up to a 5.5 gallon tank for the babies. I have a number of older videos from back in 2017/early 2018 about my process for rearing fry. A whole separate tank may not be needed but wouldn't hurt!

@@AndrewPiorkowski yeah ive watched them but i don't trust it not getting knocked over i have a 98 pound pitbull he loves to wrap his bone in his blanket and shake it to send his bone flying and bins with water he think is his personal pool lol he is a overgrown spoiled baby i know

They can be found at local clubs or places like aquabid. It helps to make friends with other fishkeepers to expand your network which can make it easier to find specific fish you may be looking for.

Bro, EXTANT!! lol idk y but it always erks me when people don't say extant, idk if it isn't taught enough but being a scientific person it just gets to me lol
@AndrewPiorkowski3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching & commenting. I appreciate hearing from other people with scientific backgrounds. I do have 2 quick questions regarding your comment: are there any other species assigned to Skiffia (extant or other)? Can you define extant since both locations currently assigned to francesae are extinct in the wild & are no longer outside of direct human control?
@shadeaquaticbreeder29143 жыл бұрын
@Andrew Piorkowski - Goodeids extant means that there are no more in the wild, but there are still specimens alive in captivity. Idk what species are extant (most of the time we just don't see the group for a while) but there are a few goodeids that are. also if you live within driving distance of Ohio (~4-5hrs) I would love to eventually be able to get all these Goodea species from you.
