Ooooh I love a Friday Hair Buddha video! I actually kind of liked the orange. If things turn out like that, then the best plan is to turn it into a feature, not a bug. A friend of my mother's got green hair when she tried to bleach in the 70s in preparation for a big formal thing. She wound up buying a dress in dusky green and looked wonderful. Bald is a good opportunity for bold earrings and necklaces. Or if hair is that important, then wigs

Same. I did 40 volume bleach multiple times in span of 3 months. And ofc I didn't even know how damaging bleach is. My hair was horrible, but just like you, I had lots of luck, and it didn't fall out. I got my hair relaxed when I was 16 while on holiday in the Philippines. It was in a salon, possibly in a shopping mall. I had never done anything to my hair before, never bleached it, coloured it or even used a hair straightener. They told me not to get it wet for 3 days. For 3 days it was awesome and straight. On the fourth day I got it wet with cold water in the shower. I tried combing it while it was wet and it was falling out in chunks for days, even when it was dry. Nope, not trying that again.

My sister was a master cosmetologist for 20+ years. She said over and over, it's a reason we have to have a license. She talked about the chemistry they had to learn (perms, relaxers, color). These people out here playing chemicals on their head like they are professionals. So glad he mentioned about the chemicals being absorbed in to your blood stream. Do better people. Go to a professional for color and chemicals.

Not to mention. I'm pretty sure for at home perming products it always says in the warnings to not use on bleached hair. I've seen so many people in his videos who slather on perming solutions onto their heavily bleached hair because they either didn't read the instructions and warnings or they're choosing to ignore it, usually with the thoughts of "well my hair is really strong it can handle everything". People think they can change how chemicals will react with their mind powers or something. I'm betting your sister has had to fix a lot of fried hair from perming-bleaching mishaps bcs people do 0 research and think a youtube video will turn them into a hairdresser

All I could think of with the beautiful woman of colour is she was tugging at her hair and using the horrible Clippers was this gal is going to get a huge infection in her scalp. I thought the hair Buddha was going to start to cry and all I could think is she could walk into a neighbourhood Barber and for $5 they would shave her scalp and give her a nice massage treatment and she do look gorgeous I haven't watched the end of the video yet so hopefully that's about to happen. As soon as she started to colour her hair I knew she would look lovely bald. Beautiful colour skin and lovely features and definitely the personality for it. Crossing my fingers that she chooses if she can't afford a salon just to go to a barber. I went to a barber actually for several years when my kids were young and he gave me beautiful pixie cuts they're very underrated and he charged $5.

One thing I’ve noticed is products targeted at Afro hair are SO much stronger (& often they have to be, like the maximum strength you’ll find in big-standard L’Oréal is 9%, some creme of nature? Up to 15% I’ve seen reported, that’s a LOT especially on already damaged hair!) but that means when it goes wrong, it goes horrendously wrong very quickly. It’s got to the point where I just thought it was general knowledge not to use a relaxer / texturiser/ perm on bleached hair. Apparently not. On the flip side “Caucasian products” often leave the user unimpressed because they don’t do what they need to. & don’t let me even start on Asian hair products. It’s like the manufacturer just says “ahhhh. Increase the peroxide % as much as is physically possible, market it to Asians, & take the money”. I hate it.
