I recently gave myself kind of a rock bangs/Wolf cut situation, but hear me out - my hair was growing out from a short haircut for 9 months, and I'm going to get a short pixie next week, so I thought - why not? Doesn't look half bad, I used the tips and it's definitely better than it was, but would I do it if I knew I'm stuck with it for weeks or months? Nope.

Until the guy burned his scalp! As an RN I would like to see him part his hair and show the chemical burn! Do they not require any chemistry classes in school anymore? Acid burns skin! What about the movie “Dante’s Peak” where the volcano made the lake very acidic! What did it do to the grandmothers skin? It burned off and she died. Those Chemicals he used also absorb into skin and bloodstream. Then people wonder why the become sick. These are dangerous chemicals. @hair-buddha please do a video on safety for these kids learning chemistry the hard way…by losing their skin and health🙏🏻

Back in the '80s (yes I'm old) I used to go to this rather high-end salon to get highlights. Great place, great hair colorist. Well this time I wanted to go full platinum and my stylist was over the moon bc he got to use this new brand of bleach so I sat down, he applied this bleach and when it was all done my entire hair was yellow. Bright yellow. We both freaked out and he applied toner in a vain effort to fix the disaster, but for some reason the ends of my rather long hair turned blue. Very blue. No time for a trim since I had a train to catch since I was the Maid of Honour at my cousin's wedding. To add insult to injury a bloody Seagull shat on my head the second I exited the train and my uncle who picked me up almost died from laughter. I was not amused. Arrived at cousin's home looking like shite and she- also a hairdresser by trade, dragged me to her salon late at night (the night before her wedding, bless her) and started chopping away the blue parts and that's the story how I ended up with an asymmetrical lob before it was even a thing. Fabulous look though.

I once had a bird poop on my head (I don't have a bleach story, though. Sorry), I think that it was a duck... I just cut a giant piece of hair out. That one short piece of hair stuck right up for so long. Lol. It was also in the middle of a school day... Middle school... I think that that was the day that I lost my sanity. I just kept laughing in the toilet while cutting the hair off (no mirror). I know the pain a little bit. 😭♥️ Stay awesome.

But since we both were teens in the 80s he gets wanting to experiment incl hair (OMG we did 🤭😂) and now even more pressure from social media to fit in. I worry about the lack of care at times esp gloves using these chemicals or awareness of how toxic they can be esp rinsing when burns?! Don’t leave it on! Obv the products are safe when handled right. I feel like it’s when not if a hair fail ends with paramedics ...open the damn door and use exhaust fan! 😒😞

Hair is SO situational, especially with colour and chemicals. Every head of hair is different & has different history, it really does take years of practice and knowledge to understand where and when to apply certain techniques. I've only been doing hair for 6 years but have learned a LOT in that time, we never stop learning in this industry. I cringe every time I've been told "doing hair isn't a hard job" 😶

Kid who cut her bangs too short and screwed them up. Easy fix is pull it all back with a headband until it grows out enough to where you can go get it fixed. Don't have one? A trip to the dollar store will fix that 😉👍 you can also use a handkerchief or bandana and make a really cute headband that will cover them up!

You gotta remember HB that when people are rinsing out their hair they're using leaning forward over the sink with the faucet going down. Thus it isn't easier to rinse out the hair if doing back first. In retro-spect, it is easier to rinse off the front of the head rather than the back. Maybe in the salon it would be easier because they're leaning back in a chair into the sink. You could've just said; it's best to do the back because because of processing time and that the hair is thinner and finer in the front making the hair faster to process than the back.

Haha granted I didn’t do anything too drastic and it was just a trim I have done many times before and dyed my natural mediumish brown to my go to mahogany brown to just richen up my hair and add some warmth and go a bit darker which I love especially in natural light the red tones add such a nice subtle richness and just brings some life back into my otherwise dull natural color. The bangs I decided to hold off and get done by a pro! But I have to say your wisdom was there with me!!

Businesses (not just hair salons) in Australia know how to gouge people, but even here they wouldn't charge $200 just to cut your hair! I had my (short/pixie/undercut) bleached toned and cut for $195 last year. I bleach it myself now (following HB's guidelines and using BlondMe, because I'm unemployed and can't keep going to the salon) and a cut costs about $35 at Just Cuts. The last kid did a good job! I wish I remembered what brand of boxed hair dye my grandmother used on my hair once, but I can't. It was light blonde whatever it was. Anyway, that product burned the hell out of my scalp. Box dye! My scalp was covered in sores and then scabs. Which made me hesitant to ever do any colors that required actual bleach. ...But years later, went to an actual salon and got it bleached and dyed green. No burnt scalp. ...I was glad but also *very confused*.
