250 pages on the stupid violin 😂 literally laughed out loud!!! Could not agree more! The cello is a TOTALLY different beast!!! Thank you so much for putting these awesome videos together!!! You’ve convinced me to upgrade someday to an Edgar Russ cello!

He is my mistro... I am a student in his violin making academy... I have learned so much from this man. I hope I can become half the luthier he is.

Thank you for this fabulous interview! Amen it's so frustrating finding cello info! I'm fortunate to have a band made cello from a local leutiere, Don MacKenzie, here on Caoe Cod. Don uses the old methods including handrubbed finish. He even tools the metal pieces. His bows are exquisite. He's a real treasure. He doesn't do modern technology so you have to reach him by calling or going tgere. His shop is on a beautiful cape cod marsh. I feel so very fortunate to have one if his cellos and bows.

You should write a cello book, Jonathan!

I might, though it would be more like a graphic novel :-)

If you are looking for a book about the cello and cello only, then I'd suggest "One Hundred Years of Violoncello: A History of Technique and Performance Practice, 1740-1840". It's a book written by my very dear mentor Dr. Valarie Walden. It's a book that's largely a collection of her Doctoral thesis of cello history. She is still alive today, and is an absolute treasure.

Oh my, I thought I was too stupid to look for books about the cello. That's exactly what I found... Violin violin violin. Can you recommend a book about the history of the cello? I'm a bit frustrated 😕

Love to know the pricing of his LInea cellos...And how he makes sure his masterpieces arrive in the US in one piece.

Hello sir, i’m sorry that my comment is irrelevant to the video but i really need help! I recently bought D’luca cello, i am new to the cello world and i want to learn how to play it but I’m having problems with the tuning and the pegs are slipping every time i tune it, i tried to chalk the pegs but didnt work, it either slips that it doesnt stay tuned, or get stuck that’s too hard to move it and tune.. i really want to play on it and start step by step following your videos but im stuck at this stage and it’s killing me..

I really love Edgar, his Instruments Sound really good, but his audio quality is so terrible :( He could reach so much more people and educate them if he used a small microphone thats close to his face, maybe mounted on his shirt Maybe you could give him some tipps, you're audio is really good and he certainly would profit from it
