I think target panic occurs because the brain wants to see the target, and we force it to be covered by the pin. The only true solution is to get a sight that eclipses the outside of the "target" or X/10 allowing us to maintain visual confirmation of the target that we intend to hit. Someone that is a pure hunter will be very unlikely to experience target panic as the brain is able to typically see the relation of the pin onto a much larger target. This is why you will not suffer from target panic blank bale shooting, due to the whole bale being the target and the brain being able to visually check the relation of the pin onto a greater target area, and or Never visually losing the target that is intended to be hit.

I actually agree and disagree. While target shooting, it’s good practice to actually focus more on your target than your sight, and this will allow you to have your sight almost “float” around the target you want to shoot. Target panic can still happen and you can punch the trigger on a release or execute your follow through prematurely, but i think this might help you. I think for new hunters (me included) you can get really bad target panic, or as it’s called in the hunting world, buck fever. I think this happens from new hunters getting nervous when seeing a deer will begin to panic.

Incredibly incorrect. Archers experience target panic because we are holding a literal explosion apart without our body and our brain is designed to protect us from that explosion by controlling when it goes off so it can brace for impact. Also, hunters have some of the worst forms of target panic imaginable.

What is the best hinge release for someone transitioning from Thumb Trigger to Hinge?

We recommend the Truball Sweet Spot as it comes with a safety mechanism that does not allow it to fire until the safety has been disengaged. Always find an instructor at your local pro shop to teach you how to properly shoot the release.
