Amen. It's so easy to say you have faith until it's time to show the faith. Please Lord give me the graces I need to handle these storms. Jesus, I trust in you.

This is exceptional truth! All glory to God. What I commented is simply not enough. This goes against everything I've ever been taught, except in the case of if we don't get what we ask for. I used to get reprimanded for saying, "if it's Your will Lord, let it be done." Name it and claim it they said, an indecisive man won't receive anything they said. I was more at the opinion that if I was to ask the God who created everything for something, then it had better be something He wants. Of course I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, I confess that I have been treating God as if He's my personal gene in a bottle, it's only by His mercy that I'm still breathing this breath 'He' gave me. I guess it's becoming clear that I'm a Protestant by now, I confess I've been indoctrinated to despise Catholics, "not the people the doctrine," they said. Like that's even possible to split the two, especially with what I've been learning about you all. Any fellow Protestants reading this thinking I'm off the wall, get a Catechism, read it (or start to) and listen to our big brothers. I can't say I'm totally on board but I can say now that I'm not totally on board with Protestant theology either, and most of its variants. Ultimately, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place atm but as Romans 3:4 says, 'Let God be true and every man a liar'. God has got me in His grip, as my core is being reprogrammed, my choker chain leash is short so for the mean time I'm happy being a good dog for my Master. Honestly, thank you for this post, it's life altering. All glory to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit forever unto ages of ages, and world without end. Amen.

Beautiful Sermon, Father! Thank you so much! I truly needed to hear this!!!! And I have a BIG QUESTION: WHAT IF the evil has occured as a result of rebelling against God's Gifts to us; against His Good Will? Does this mean that our own prideful actions can CHANGE OUR FATE? Would God let us lose His Gifts to us as our punishment for rebelling against His Will? FOR EXAMPLE: A bright gentleman with immense talent, who was a God-Loving practicing Catholic, was awarded a PhD Scholarship at the age of 23; but he turned it down to go to LA to become a Movie Star. He succeeded at his career, but the entire time, his life was a living hell and more miserable than imaginable. Then he became an alcoholic and lost his career. Now he is 62 years old and even though he remains as a practicing God-Loving Catholic, he regrets every day of his past... and is living a very sad life. He now believes, that by his own prideful sinful choices, he is living-out decades of punishment because he turned down God's great Gift of that PhD Scholarship. He rebelled against God's Will and forced his own will to be done instead. According to The Great Will Of GOD, how do we interpret this scenario? Are we capable of changing our own fate because we rebelled against God's Will to do our own will? Would GOD allow us to fight His Will & do our own will and create our own heavy Cross and carry it for a life of punishment as a result? Of course no one can predict what would have happened with this gentleman, but logically, if he had taken that scholarship, he would have became a great psychologist and helped many people and lived a good life of charitable service to God's people and to The Lord Himself. But instead he chose a life in the Arts which could have served many of God's people, but he did not use his talents in the proper way to do so; does his career was an ignorant abuse of God's talents to him. We hope to receive these answers. Thank you so much!

All our choices decide our fate. God forces Himself on no one. Even the Saints - and I may say, *especially* the Saints - regretted their sins and did penance for them. Whatever this man might have been in this life is nothing compared to what he can be in the next, and that will come from every decision he makes from this moment on. Life is moment by moment. We cannot change the past, but our regrets can change our hearts so that we do better in the future. Any suffering endured for love of God is for our sanctification, not punishment. There is no way to say what might have been. If he had become a psychologist he might have lost his Faith, which is more important than any good deed. Many occasions of sin come with worldly success. Sometimes the best thing that can happen to us is failure. Being a psychologist is not better than being an artist, or being a cleaner or being an invalid unable to work at anything but prayer. We can do all our works in the name of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, whether those works seem great or small. The Saints excelled at doing small things with great love. What is happening right now is not a punishment. It is a gift. Every moment is God's gift to you and we can find joy in embracing His will. Embrace His will as did the martyrs, who suffered so much for Him with hymns of praise on their lips. Take the gift of this moment, repent, and embrace with joy what gift the loving God has given you today. Don't look at what he might have been, look at what he might become. What a marvellous Saint this man might become, and what a witness he could be in our day!

@@gray_mara THANK YOU!! "DON'T LOOK AT WHAT HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN; LOOK AT WHAT HE MIGHT BECOME." BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Thank you so much for your beautiful explanation! *BUT I do have one question about FATE??? If we create our own fate, then what does it mean when they say that God has already planned our life from beginning to end; " IT HAS ALREADY BEEN WRITTEN". Does this mean that God knew we were going to reject his gifts and go a different direction or there be bad or good? If I had known that I decided my own fate my friend (AND I) would have lived life much differently. God gives us free will and look what we do with it! There is no one to blame but ourselves which is where this repentance awaits for our lifetime. So many of us need help trying not to regret. Our Lord & Savior Jesus said: "Do not live in the Past, and do not worry about the Future.... Just stay with Me, in The Present." So this is what you mean. As in the present is our Gift From GOD.... And if we live like this our decision will not deter our good fate that HE has already WRITTEN for us. And I understanding what you are teaching us? Thank you.

Whenever we play the mind game, "If only I'd...." we come up with a PERFECT scenario of how it would have been! Had you accepted the scholarship, no matter the outcome over the following decades, it would not have been perfect. Many daily choices would have been made. We are imperfect human beings. We are, as the Bible says, "cracked pots." Satan has used your way of thinking to constantly discourage you and to keep you from joy and from good things you could have done every day. The past is over and there is nothing we can do about it. The future is uncertain for us all. What we have is each PRESENT MOMENT. If we do the best we can with each one, our life will have been a success. St. Teresa of Avila said that a saint is a person that gets up one more time than they fall down. Perseverance. Repentance. Trust in God who loves us! Was it St. Teresa of Calcutta who said that God doesn't ask us to be a success; He asks us to be faithful. Blessings!!
