Cities are like "wow trains with tires, the best of both a bus and a train" when its really the worst of both worlds. Noisy, squeaky tires that make my skin crawl on a device stuck to a rail lol. Those trams that go over noise silencing grass have it figured out.

It's the opposite, trams on iron are noisier, especially at more than 20 kph and on curves. The bogies are not very mobile (loud noise when turning hard) and the grooved rails are the cause of the noise generated in a straight line and on steep slopes it's even worse.

@@Lodai974 No thats not what I meant, there is a whole thing about noise studies done on the sound the rubber tires make on pavement and how it contributes to city noise pollution. Nothing I said had anything to do with rails. Also, trams on rails going over those green patches of grass are quieter than tires.

@@Lee-Foster The Translohr trams don't make the squeaky noise and are very silent. While the rubber tyred metros on steel plates do make this squeaky noise but it doesn't travel far nor through structures, so neighbors of the metro much prefer rubber tyred metro lines.

Where is that at 6:20?
@KyrilPG28 күн бұрын
It's towards the Southwestern end of tramway line T6 where there are 2 underground stations. Line T10 will also have underground stations on its Northwestern extension.

1:09 Is that one of those 'guided trolleybus 🚎 ' thingumidoodies that pretend to be a tram?
@duploman0003Ай бұрын
It’s a translohr indeed!
@mrjulianson6326Ай бұрын
@@duploman0003 I think you're thinking of a TVR, those only existed in 2 cities and have been turned into regular trolleybuses. This is a translohr which is a regular tram on tires.
@KyrilPG28 күн бұрын
The Translohr trams work much better than the TVR guided trolleybuses. It's not comparable.
