17:06: How common is it to deal with traffic like that but drivers don't even notice you are there, until you are really there? I mean, that SUV driver could easily have waited and only cover the other line.

If you watch carefully you will see the driver on the other side greeting the SUV. From the movement of the SUV you can also see the stress getting higher as the tram aproaches.

Love it! Learned a whole lot and got answers to questions I had from so far. Including the pedal driving. it should feel so well to have a functioning neutral. I've test drive many EV cars. The lack of neutral completely throws me off. In those cars, releasing the accelerator pedal means braking confidently with no way of turning it off.

I think Rolls Royce Spectre has a mode that disable the regenerative braking for that ‘neutral feel’ as you call it.

Absolutely splendid video! It's still such a strange concept to me that a tram has 2 cabs - I love the end when it's made for passengers, but I have to admit, it does make more sense :)

The negative side of bidirectional trams is that at the terminus, the driver have to change from direction, and maybe loose some precious time. That is a problem you don't have on unidirectional trams, so from that point of view they are more time-efficient

@@cabridepirate not true, bidirectional trams still support loops. in The Hague you still have a lot of them even though most lines (and from 2026 all lines) only run bidirectional trams. But needing to do an entire loop vs walking to the other side of the tram takes essentially the same time. And there should be enough time between the end and start of each trip for the driver to take a break and some margin in case the tram is delayed. So with a properly planned schedule it should never be a problem to begin with.

Ikke alle linjer har sløjfer i enderne, nogle har bare et spor i hver side af en midter perron og så en stopbom. Det er billigere at lave og kræver ikke spor til omkørsel og færre skiftespor. Mere enkelt Det er noget li jernbanerne, letbaner, metro i mange lande, med to føre hytter. Med behagelige hilsner fra danmark 😺

@@cabridepirate , mange sporvogne, letbane, metroer rundt om i verden har ikke sløjfer, lige som i gamle dage. Vogn stammerne er også mere fleksible ved for eksempel pludselig spor spærring, så kan trafikcentralen køre frem og tilbage på hver side af sporspærringen, ind til blokeringen er fjernet. Så ind til da kan chauffør bare bytte ende. Årsagerne er mange, men nævnes kan, at det kræver færre skinner, færre skiftespor og en midter perron, mindre areal i by områder, hvor grund priser er dyre og folk hellere vil have boliger og erhverv. Jernbaner har ingen loop/sløjfer, men to føre hytter. Med behagelige hilsner fra danmark 😺

Some endpoints don't have a loop, so it makes sense to have 2 driver cabs.

Det er fordi, at computeren i sporvognen skal køre igennem alle programmer og tjekke for fejlsøgning. Det er det samme som Din mobil eller pc skal gøre før Du kan bruge den. Alt skal installeres på ny, når vogntoget hentes i remisen. Det er også for at se, at der vognstammen ikke står med fejl på siden den sidst blev kørt med. Det ville jo være surt, hvis man kummer ud med et sæt og så fejl opstår på turen, fejl som kunne være rettet inden dagens start, for så skal værkstedet jo ud med et nyt vognsæt og så får man skide balle af ledelsen. Lidt af det samme, skal Vi også gøre i bybusserne, for de har også edb. Med behagelige hilsner fra danmark 😺

, det er lige som i en el bil og busser, der bruger man heller ikke joy stik eller håndholdt fartkontrol. Men det er nok godt med pedaler, for med alle de knapper og andet de også skal betjene samtidig, så er det nok bedre. Med behagelige hilsner fra danmark 😺

Take a look at PCC trams from 1935. This license was also bought by CKD Czechoslovakia (amongst others) that built the famous Tatra trams in the eastern block.

Enige uitleg tijdens deze video omtrent het opstarten was wel handig geweest. Nu zie ik alleen maar iemand die wat knoppen indrukt. Ongetwijfeld nuttig, maar als je een video maakt hoe je de cabine opzet, laat dan ook weten waarom je dit allemaal moet doen. Nu snapte ik er geen moer van.

Leuk zo'n positie rit. Ps. Ik heb je een hoop vragen gesteld in je video "way too much people" pov lijn 9 naar Scheveningen, maar de meeste ervan zijn nu beantwoord. Zo kon ik de pedalen nu goed zien. Grappig dat ook die te laat / te vroeg indicator werkt, hoewel je nu (nog) geen rit volgens dienstregeling rijdt, maar het kan zijn dat het systeem wel al wist welke dienst je ging beginnen, in dit geval vanaf Wateringen, zodat het systeem kon aangeven of je daar op tijd zou zijn voor je dienst. Klopt dat? Bedankt weer voor het posten.

Bedankt voor je reactie en interesse! Inderdaad, onze boordcomputer geeft na het invullen van de lijn/omloopcode (die staat op onze dienstkaart) aan hoe laat we vanaf de remise moeten uitrukken en hoe laat we vervolgens op Wateringen dienen aan te komen. Meestal hebben we daar dan vervolgens nog een paar minuutjes voordat we de passagiersdienst starten.

I could not imagine open air tram holds, since here we have a constant issue with people jumping over the fences to tag the trams and metro cars... though the most that I drive, i have not seen them being tagged at the old Koskela depot... which is gonna be built from the ground up...

Great video,as always, but your new logo confuesed me twice. First of all, I'm usually loking at the logo and have'nt your cartoon face (which I liked) and a differentbtram and driver. Now, after noticing it I see a new video from you but the tram looks wiere with a wrap of bright colors and I started reading but it wasn't English, nor Dutch - It was Turkish and from the Istanbool Metro channel that has a very simular logo to your new one 😁 Aoart from that it's nice to finally see good weather and so much green.

Hi, did you have a form of "dead man", for stopping the tram if you pass out? If that the case, what are the push and release delays? I'm a tram driver in france and im curious about your system :) As always, thanks for the video!

The left pedal is dead man switch. We have to press it continuously while driving, there is no release required. If the pedal is released, a buzzer will sound and the tram will brake automatically after 5 seconds of inactivity.

, ja måske bruger De det i starten af uddannelsen, inden at De kommer ud og køre i den rigtige trafik, for mange situationer, som De måske ikke vil komme ud for i starten som chauffør, kan De så træne i den simulator som Du foreslår, så rigtigt. Gad i grunden vide, om togføre ikke bruger train sim i uddannelsen. God ide Du der kommer med, det kunne Du jo foreslå til selskaberne, som opererer på skinnerne, et tram sim 😻 Med behagelige hilsner fra danmark😺

@@TramMeneer We hebben een soortgelijke actie gehad bij een fanatieke collega die het zelfde deed. Die had een hoofdband met een gopro op zn voorhoofd. Je bent toch bezig om het plaatje zo perfect mogelijk te maken dus houdt je rekening met het feit dat je filmt. Dit valt onder afleiding en is veiligheids relevant. Ook sommige dingen zoals bediening moet je niet filmen omdat het bedrijfsrelevante informatie is. Het uitzicht zelf is natuurlijk wel leuk. Plak een zuignap op de voorruit en je bent van deze discussies af. Ik zou als passagier wel een klacht indienen bij de vervoerder als ik een bestuurder andere dingen zie doen in het vervoersmiddel waar ik veilig mee wil reizen. Tegenwoordig moet je erg oppassen met dit soort acties want alle instanties kijken gewoon mee en vinden er zeker wat van. Als de veiligheids afdeling van de HTM dit ziet komt er geheid een veiligheispublicatie. En het komt allemaal op je bordje als het fout gaat. Tis maar een waarschuwing. Wees serieus in je vak en maak er geen kermis attractie van.

@@WillemvanderHouven Ik begrijp je argumenten en ben het voor een groot deel ook met je eens. Maar toch denk ik dat er een wezenlijk verschil is tussen de manieren van opnemen, en daarnaast ook het type voertuig. Zo is een chest mount niet storend tijdens het rijden, in tegenstelling tot een headcam. De camera verstoort het zichtveld niet en wordt bediend tijdens stilstand. Daarnaast ben je niet "bezig om het plaatje zo perfect mogelijk te maken" zoals je zegt, want na het plaatsen op de borst heb je daar verder weinig invloed op. Je doet gewoon je best om de acties zo goed en netjes mogelijk uit te voeren. Overigens film ik de meeste van mijn video's vanuit een vaste hoek waarbij ik de camera niet aanraak. Verder nog een opmerking over 'bedrijfsrelevante informatie': aangezien onze cabinedeuren van glas zijn, kunnen passagiers al meekijken met wat wij doen. Mensen die de video's kijken zien dus eigenlijk niets dat een reguliere passagier ook niet kan zien vanuit de tram. Ik snap dat dit bij de NS iets anders zit. Overigens hebben ik en veel van mijn collega's die dit op de tram/metro/bus doen gewoon goedkeuring van het bedrijf waar wij voor werken, en volgen daarmee het veiligheidsprotocol van de vervoerder.
