Tree climbing bow hunter 72 years old. Love Bino. Amazing just in his vast knowledge but likewise in sound, videography and delivery skills. Thanks Bino. Feel like I could swing by his place and share a beer 🍺

The bottom part of the distel looks like a clove hitch, with ends coming off each side and an overlapping line. I've had it slide a little with slippery line, so I occasionally use a fifth turn.

Sure adding sometimes helps. Thanks for sharing!

I have two questions. Is the distal hitch a safety for the pulley? Is the distel hitch easy to manipulate even under tension? My understanding is that the prusik knot needs to have tension released before being able to manipulate it. I’m trying to learn about saddle hunting.
@BinoHАй бұрын
No the Distel is the you safety the pulley just helps in the tending of the hitch. Check this video out it may help.

to complete the climb, do you attach a hand/foot ascender and climb it from there?
@BinoH11 ай бұрын
It this method you would just body thrust.

Excellent demonstration Bino. Nice to see both methods. I have some new equipment so since it's still cold ( but nothing like last year) I'm becomimg open to hitches that just might function better in a certain orientation than others. Is this distel something u would use as a backup to a belay device such as a Trango Vergo? I'm also trying out the Knut if i don't use a Michoacon. 😮
@BinoH11 ай бұрын
I also like the Knut but with a longer cord.
@josephtreadlightly568611 ай бұрын
@@BinoH I'm using a 30" Beeline eye to eye & it seems to be long enough. The Knut seems very stable so far.😅

The Distel can lock up on you after a while, the Michoacan is superior & easier to tie. The Distel can work as a lanyard hitch but for climbing line I've had issues with it.
@BinoH11 ай бұрын
I like the Michoacán also but at the moment it's not one of the approved knots on the ISA Tree Climber test.
