9:38 my favourite part of Valorant lore is that they took the game mechanic where you sometimes will have to play against another person using the same agent as you and put it into the story. There is an Alpha and an Omega Earth, and if there are 2 Phoenix's in the game, that is because both versions of Phoenix have been sent. They're maybe the only game I know of that baked that gameplay feature into their core lore.

The only other game I know of that explains characters fighting against themselves is Fortnite. In short, all characters are stuck fighting in a time loop and when someone wins a snapshot (clone) of them is created

just as clarification because i always get confused by this too, 17:50, that characters name is Neon, and her suit isn't something that makes her more powerful, it's something that cuts back her powers because they're too powerful and she can't control them, so when it got destroyed she got this sudden power surge of backed up energy. In the lore it is said that she can power whole cities and more.

the agent trailers/cinematics as well as the Lotus map cinematic are also part of these, they fill in the gaps between the cinematics, which is why there are big gaps between these ones you've watched

I love how accurate these are to the actual gameplay :D Like, yes, its not a free roaming, cinematic gameplay in game; BUTthey use their abilities the same way u would in game and they are showcased in a realistic way :D honestly just wished they made more, there's still multiple agents that's never been in these "season cinematics" so I want more cx (not to mention I love how they have made it canon that u can see ur character on the enemy team)

Duality basically explains how the game works, it shows why in game you can be a character and on the other team someone else can be the same character as you, because at some point in time there was this thing called 'the first light' which was a surge of radianite energy that split the earth into two parallel worlds. Depending on the team you're on in game, you're on either one of the two earths. In the cinematic where it stated the life support system (forgot the name, sorry), it was the good guys arriving on the enemy planet (usually the enemies attack the good guys, but they've infiltrated their earth), it was a huge lore drop in the game explaining why the enemies attack the good guys, it's because their planet is riddled with climate change and destruction and such, the place they arrived on was an underwater city because climate change caused the oceans to rise, they life support system was the dome that encased the system which was powered by radianite which is why they need to go to the good guy's planet and use the spike (the bomb that steals radianite from the environment) to steal said radianite.

Hello, loved the video! Just wanted to come here and explain kinda how the gameplay works. So its a 5v5 shooter in which one team (attack) plants the spike/bomb, and one team (defense) defuses the spike/ bomb. A little background on character game play is you can choose between radiants (characters that have powers because of radianite) and characters that use radianite technology (turrets,bombs.etc) Radianite is an energy source in the lore, so the attacking team is trying to steal radianite from the "defending team". As you can see there are 2 of the same characters but on opposing teams. This represents the character select and how each team can have 1 of the same character.

oops i forgot to explain that in the game, a long match (unrated or competitive) the first team to 13 winning rounds wins the match, in a short match (swiftplay) the first to 5 wins. In these matches there is a half way point in which you switch sides. so if you start on defense, halfway through you end up on attack, vice versa. The switch in a long match is usually after 11 rounds and in a short match, after 4 rounds. In a competitive match if the score is 12-12, overtime is played (unless you pick to draw) and its the first to a 2 round win ( for example, 14-12, 16-18)

It’s too bad these lore videos never include the agent reveal trailers and the map reveals, etc. those are a key part of the lore and you miss a lot when you don’t see them! Plus, the valorant championship themes always have amazing music videos! They aren’t lore, but they’re incredible to watch

Like the reaction! So first, it's vAlorant, not valOrant :D Second, lore dump incoming. The trailers only give you part of the story, with the rest being woven into agent (characters) announcement trailers, map environments and in-game phrases of the characters. So what DO we know: This is an alternative near future, like 2030-50s, where about 10 years ago SOMETHING called "First Light" happened and a) radianite became known to people and turned out to be an extremely powerful source of energy and b) some people got unnatural abilities from it ("radiants", basically mutants). Most of the radianite-related activities in the world are led by a huge company named Kingdom Corporation, and about half the characters in the game are either its ex-eplyoees or enemies, investigating their corruption (or both). But that's only one side of the story, because we have two parallel universes here: "our" Alpha Earth and "their" Omega Earth. Omega is about 20 years ahead of Alpha in terms of technical progress, also spearheaded by their Kingdom Industries (definitely not as corrupt as Kingdom Corp from Alpha xd), but their radianite is scarce and very unstable by default, and after the First Light (which happened there too) the whole world started experiences massive natural cataclysms, so now Omega is basically facing extinction. The underwater location in the "Shattered" cinematic is actually the Omega's version of Lisbon, Portugal, but it's completely submerged under water on most days, and the statues of the agents are there, because they actually helped holding the tsunamis with their abilities and evacuating people as first responders. At some point after the FIrst Light event Omega Kingdom discovered interdimensional travel, came to Alpha and started secretly working with Alpha Kingdom to work out the solution to save their world. Then Omega's VALORANT Legion, which is basically Omega Kingdom's superhero division, starts spying on Alpha and now (starting with the incident in Italy) they're outright stealing Alpha radianite with Spikes - basically very inhumane drilling machines sucking the resource from the ground, killing everyone inside the blast radius and causing weird effects like that floating island in Venice. On the other hand, there's VALORANT Protocol on Alpha Earth, which was formed several years ago to investigate First Light and later spy on Omega, the corruption of Kingdom Corp and prevent the Spike attacks. VALORANT Protocol on Alpha is a secret organization independent from Kingdom, while on Omega VALORANT Legion is Kingdom's public ally, and Omega launches massive propaganda, making the Legion look like the heroes, and the VALORANT Protocol from Alpha - the scary villains intending to destroy Omega Earth. The Revelation video (with the rave and the song) happens completely on Omega, and everyone except the two "researchers" breaking into the temple, are part of the Omega VALORANT Legion: at this point Alpha VALORANT is conducting missions on Omega Earth to investigate the location that is destroyed on Alpha Earth. VALORANT is led by Liam "Brimstone" Byrne (the bearded guy from the end of the WARM UP cinematic), ex head of Kingdom Security, who got disappointed in their methods. He puts together both radiants and just very talented or technically enhanced people mostly with similar anti-Kingdom views, from all around the world. Brimstone and Viper ("Vader's daughter", aka Dr. Sabine Callas, ex Kingdom Chief Scientific Officer) are Americans, Phoenix is British, Jett (blue windy girl) is Korean, Killjoy (yellow tech genius, became Kingdom's R&D lead by the age of 18) is German, Sova (Legolas) is Russian etc. Everyone has their own personal stories that mostly correlate with one another, but not everyone is fully released/declassified by Riot yet. Omen's ("Ghost") story is the most recent one, released like two weeks ago, even though the agent was in the game since beta. Before that we didn't know his origin story and we still don't know his name. But apparently more than a decade ago he was a secret agent of an organization called Scions of Hourglass, who were keen on not letting radianite to be publicly discovered even before the First Light event. As part of that mission, he was trying to kill Viper before she became Viper. He failed, she got the best of him with her poison things and after he tried to escape, she exposed him to a radianite containment chamber, probably not completely understanding the possible outcomes, as it was very early in the radianite studies. The process shred his body, soul and mind into a thousand pieces and turned him into the creature we know as Omen. He became the third member of VALORANT Protocol, right after Brimstone and Viper, and he's probably the first radiant in the world, because most of them got their powers during the FIrst Light. After that video there was already a voice message from Omen in the game, that he's very cross with Viper for concealing info about his past, but he let it go and still wants to be in VALORANT Protocol.
