I think that red and blue had a big impact for the creation of the Red Gyrados...because if you played on Pokemon Blue on gameboy color, it would appear blue, whereas on Pokemon Red, he would appear Red
@millgiass8 жыл бұрын
Pokemon Yellow was my first time playing the game. I gave my Pikachu to my cousin and had him evolve it for me. He was lv 100. When I got him back his stats had gone down CONSIDERABLY. This made it seem like a punishment for forcing my Pikachu to evolve. And comparing my Raichu (My starter Pikachu) to Raichus from my red and blue that I obtained later that I let my roomies play revealed his stats were weaker than their Raichu's. So I think Pikachu in yellow version may have higher stats than Pikachus of other early versions to further relate it to the anime.

Is this really true? Can someone else confirm?
@RayoMcQueen959904 жыл бұрын
No, it’s just a regular Pikachu. The difference is when it is transferred to Gen 2. In those games it has a light ball which change its stats but not in Yellow
@millgiass4 жыл бұрын
@@RayoMcQueen95990 Gen 2 wasn't involved. This was a gen 1 to gen 1 trade. It might have even been yellow to yellow. I traded him my Pikachu, he evolved it sent it right back. His stats went from being way higher than any pikachu that he or my friends caught in red or blue to way lower than any of their raichus and in fact lower than they were prior to evolution. You can believe it or you can not, but it is a fact that this happened because I was paying close attention to my main's stats. I even still have the save file, if my battery hasn't died.

One change you didn't mention, is that when playing the localised versions of red and blue in a Gameboy colour the chosen colour palette will actually change each time you change location. Most of the routes use a green palette, the caves use brown, and the sea routes use blue. Everything else is based on the name of the town you're in, so cerulean uses a blue palette, lavender uses purple, viridian uses green, etc.
@TheRealSeiferoth6 жыл бұрын
The only exception is indigo plateau which uses a green palette when you would expect it to use blue.

@@TheRealSeiferoth If you play on Super Game Boy, Red & Blue will have the automatically shifting color palettes (in addition to the obvious color). The reason why Missigno is in just a few versions easy to find, is because the programmers where a little loose in their conversions. They changed wich Pokemon appear where and forgot to assign some to that right border of the Island. There is more to what makes Missigno appear, but that is mainly it. Missing Poke-information in that small spot and the Game tries to compensate.

Ya know, if any other company did this nonsense, where they released two nearly identical versions of a game, and then a third slightly better version of the game....every single generation.... I'd be irritated. I'd be annoyed, I'd call 'em money-hungry scam artists. Whatever. But, because of my massive nostalgia for Pokemon, I never mind when they do it. As a kid, I had Red, Blue, AND Yellow, as well as Gold, Silver, AND Crystal. And I played all 6 of them to death. I beat the Elite 4 in every one of 'em. I spent ages trading Pokemon back and forth between myself and friends. I didn't have a care in the world about the fact that I was essentially playing the same game 3 times. I mean hell, if I only had one of the games, I'd have probably played it 3 times on it's own. But this gave me a reason. Nowadays, I really don't think it's necessary. Back in the day, it was a fun novelty where you had to be in the same room with someone else, or at least another copy of the game, to trade and battle back and forth. Now, we have online trading and battling. We can get every single Pokemon in the game without having to worry about trading with a friend that has the other version, or buying a second version. Nowadays it's completely pointless, and an antiquated feature that's just a left over of simpler times where online-play wasn't even a consideration. I don't hate that they do it, like I said. I just think it's kinda pointless.

Just making a few corrections from this information she gives to Yellow version, your starter Pikachu CAN EVOLVE via Thunderstone. However the Pikachu stops following you if you do so. Also, the Pikachu only follows you when it’s first in your 6 team list/register of Pokemon names; and if you put your Pikachu into a box, the Pikachu sprite gets furious and you have to refriend it again, as if that’s not bad enough, the Pikachu can flat out refuse too attack Pokemon in battles (Like a traded Pokemon with too high a level compared to your Gym Badges) if it isn’t happy with you. (Edit: Some of these things may have been changed after the first version of the game that was on the shelves in English. I got mine the day it came out. So I’m going from my own experience)

I got Pokemon Yellow a few years before Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee were released. It didn’t take long at all for me to realize that the Let’s Go games were remakes of Pokemon Yellow, with Let’s Go Pikachu being an updated version of Pokemon Yellow and Let’s Go Eevee being Pokemon Yellow if you were the one who got Eevee as your starter instead of your rival. One of the things in Pokemon Yellow that surprised me the first time I saw them was the instances where NPCs will just give you a Pokemon. Not ask for you to trade one of your Pokemon for one of theirs, but just flat out asking you if you wanted a Pokemon they were offering and giving it to you just like that if you chose “Yes”. It wasn’t the only time I had encountered something like that either. I’d also had this kind of encounter in Pokemon Black and White, where an NPC at the Dreamyard will just give you a Pansear, Panpour, or Pansage depending on your starter Pokemon, and I had another encounter like this in Pokemon X and Y where an NPC on Route 12 who will just give you a Lapras if you have the Rumble Badge and an empty slot in your party. It’s just that each time I had an encounter like that in a Pokemon game, it surprised me the first time I found it because I found it purely by chance. I just happened to feel like talking to the NPCs or I was stuck somewhere and looking for help from the NPCs, and I just happened to find these ones who were completely willing to just give me a Pokemon for free with no questions asked other than whether or not I wanted the Pokemon they were offering (which I always said yes because why would I turn up a free Pokemon?) and the Pokemon they were offering was always one that I needed to overcome a section of the game that I had gotten stuck in (usually a Gym Leader who I was having trouble beating). I was just surprised that there were NPCs in the games who were just ready and willing to give me a Pokemon that could help me with my current problems and that they were willing to give them to me free of charge. For anyone playing Pokemon Yellow who’s curious about where these helpful NPCs are, the first one is in a house in Cerulean City and will give you a Bulbasaur (very helpful if you’re struggling with Misty and need another Pokemon with type advantage over water types). The next one is in Vermillion City and will give you a Squirtle. The last one is on Route 24 and will give you a Charmander (I don’t remember the specific location of the NPC, but you should find them if you make an effort to talk to all of the NPCs there). I don’t know if these NPCs are still present in the Let’s Go games as I haven’t gotten far enough into them yet due to my attention being occupied by life and other games and interests.

You forgot to add that all the sprites got major upgrades in how they look in Yellow. It was a massive improvement. My first Pokemon game (and still one of my faves) was Yellow, while my sister's was Red and Blue. I loved having Pikachu follow me and interacting with him was fun. :) Playing "Bucket head" with him was adorable. And seeing him battle in 3D in Pokemon Stadium was amazing. Man I miss those days.

I have Pokemon Yellow and pikachu is super weak.
@ironmaidenmetalgod8 жыл бұрын
i find pikachu to be rather weak. You are better of with a jolteon.
@Sloothman8 жыл бұрын
Jolteon is the best electric type choice for 1st gen in my opinion. Jolteon has great Sp. Attack and Speed. Speed contributes to crit rate in the 1st generation and I think Jolteon is the fastest Pokemon in that generation.

I don't actually have a Eevee in any first gen game. Nor a thunder stone. So I'll wait to get one. Plus I can't trade because I have the 20 years of Pokemon 3Ds version. He's also pretty weak on X and Y but Colsplay Pikachu is very strong so...
@deadaccount26238 жыл бұрын
I might be able to because it said in the desc for Red that 3Ds trading features would be acsessable.

yep, pikachu sucks in the actual video games lol just has good speed, crap defenses and offenses with a limited move pool, it becomes utterly useless less than half way through story of the game like others said Jolteon is far superior

I stumbled on your gen 4 comparisons. Right before I started watching the video I found your other version comparisons. Time to watch them all. :)

Funnily enough, I had a knockoff Pokemon Gen 1 guide back in the day. Had a weird red knockoff Charizard and some others on the front. In the back, it had a Pokedex, along with where you can find each one. It had Green too. I was confused as a kid, but it doesn't hurt to have Green, whatever. Turns out, I eventually found out that the Red and Blue were also the Japanese Red and Blue. Meaning none of it quite matched the English versions exactly. They also used the Japanese layout for some of the caves and whatever. Always wondered why some things didn't match my game.
Actually, one other thing to mention, The Mew glitch, is also present in the Japanese versions of Gen 1, I have actually tested this when I first did a live stream run-through of my Japanese copy of Pokemon Green.

I never said it was happening. I just want it. Unless you get to go to the Kalos region in Sun and Moon, which would be dope.

Not sure if anyone has told you why there is a difference for the missingno glitch or “old man” glitch. The reason the glitch works in the international releases is because they didn’t make any Pokemon encounterable on the edge of cinnabar island. So when you do the tutorial, it saves your name as encounter data to display the old mans name. Since there is no scripted mons to encounter on the cinnabar coast, it copies whatever the last encounter data was. Since the encounter data is your name it can be any mons. Also since the encounter code line is longer than the player name your will always be able to encounter missingno(it’s been a while so you might actually only been guaranteed a m’ not missingno). It’s clear that originally they had encounter data for this area(you’ve sparked my interest so I might look into the Japanese versions) or the player name was originally not saved in the same area as encounter data. One of these things changed upon international release and caused the glitch.
