+CandyEvie I first played Leafgreen, and it made me HATE the Red, Blue, and Yellow. To the point where I refuse to believe that the first games were anything but the worst. Horrid balancing, no running, glitches aplenty, and to top it all off it had the god forsaken SPECIAL STAT. Why did Nintendo choose the gen 1 games and not the far superior remakes to put on the 3DS?

It’s also my favorite addition to FireRed and LeafGreen too. I like the Vs. Seeker because it sure comes in handy - especially if you want to raise any under-leveled Pokémon by putting the strongest one at the top of the list in your party, and then giving the under-leveled one an Exp. Share to hold. That really helps a lot. :)

Seeker was included in other games apart from FR/LG/D/P/Pt- the pokenav's match call feature in Hoenn came close, but it involved a lot of waiting. The Johto games could have desperately benefited from the VS. Seeker- getting random phone calls from very specific trainers for rematches just didn't cut it!

@@Naru_cissu I have weird shiny luck, I once found a shiny bunnelby in y and a shiny skitty in omega ruby, they were both verse early game, bunnelby before Grant and skitty a little while after being defeated by Roxanne... I've never found them that early again since, but I do have other shinies than those ones, snorunt in sun, I hunted for poipole in ultra Sun and one of those event magikarp in shield, I'm thinking of shiny hunting for the adorable galarian zigzagoon or ponyta since they look so good!

I love FireRed and Leaf Green, brilliant remakes. I would happily throw money at my screen if Nintendo brought the GBA Pokemon games to the Virtual Console on the Switch, and linked them to the Poke Bank. I would also get Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald for some old school Hoenn action also. Come on Nintendo, make it happen.

So I tried out blue and fire red again. Misty is so much harder in Fire Red! Her Starmie is so much stronger with Water Pulse. Pikachu had no trouble against Starmie in Blue, but then in Fire Red it gets destroyed by Water Pulse.

... You all are making me feel old. I'm only 22, but my first handheld game ever was Pokemon Red. I loved it to death, and it practically taught me how to read. I loved all the glitches I could discover throughout the years, or like when I was 9 when I finally discovered the Mew glitch. I feel like there kids here who don't remember a time without KZbin... I used to read all of these supposed "secrets" on several websites, trying all of them before I found the one that actually worked for getting Mew. Gen 3 is just the best. GBA is like the Genesis of the handhelds. The genesis just has this unique sound I feel like the SNES didn't quite capture. Sure they both kinda sound "16 bit" (even though yes, I'm aware 16bit is based on the graphics, not the sound, but it's the sound that's due to expanded abilities of the 16 bit consoles, but still limited compared to later) but the genesis' sound is unique. Apparently this is the sound chip it used, but when you hear a genesis game's music played through the genesis, you know it's a genesis game. The weird twangs (think comix zone's theme) is definitely an example of genesis specific sound. I think part of it is the attempt to cultivate a feeling of "attitude" as well. The GBA does the same thing. Minish Cap and Pokemon Ruby/Saphire have this unique sound that is just so soothing.

Ah, Leafgreen, the first nuzlocke I beat after over 10 resets, having near:y filled death boxes, losing Pokemon right before they evolve (Miss you Charmeleon), having unexpected heroes who died in the League (Persian and Mr. Mime were so good).Overall, a very nostalgic game for me. Another music difference between games is with the Power Plant. In Red, Blue, and Yellow, the Rocket Hideout theme plays. In FireRed and LeafGreen, the Pokemon Mansion theme plays. Speaking of the Power Plant, in Red, Blue, and Yellow, the back door of the Power Plant somehow warps you to the front. In FR/LG, the back door is on the side of the building, and you walk down a path which contains a ledge to jump over.

It’s called the Vs. Seeker, and you get it as soon as you make it to Vermilion City. However, the Vs. Seeker only works outdoors, not in caves.
