All Warning Lights Were On Like Christmas Lights!! | 2018 Acura MDX P0304 Misfire On Cylinder Four

All error lights turned on. I brought the car to the dealer and they got DTC: P0304 (Misfire No. 4 cylinder). They cleared the code and didn’t come back until four months later the error code reappeared. After further diagnosis, they discovered that it is due to the fuel injector. All 6 fuel injector was replace under warranty.

I just got the same issue and all I did was remove the battery terminals and cleaned them up and this solved the problem. 😅

Bad alternator, battery or poor electric connection also displays a similar symptoms. You got lucky you got the inexpensive end!

Thanks for sharing. Glade you were able to get it fixed. Acura/Honda are really reliable vehicles. I think this maybe a one off thing were one injector went bad. Uncommon hearing that newer MDXs have injectors issue. Happy holidays!

Just had exact same problem on my 2018 Acura MDX about an hour ago. This is the second time in a week that I have gotten this error. Only 55K on the car and the car is dealer maintained. The car has been trouble-free. Recently had the transmission fluid changed when I got the code for it some 3 months ago. Came across a video that suggested to removing your foot off the brake pedal. push start button, wait 5 seconds, push start button the second time and wait for 10 seconds. Then step on the brake pedal and push the start button again. Another suggested after pushing the Start button the second time, step on the gas pedal for 30 seconds and then push the start button to turn car off. Then step on the brake and restart the car. Not sure which one of them cleared the code but the codes went away. Hopefully this is not a misfire where I need to fix anything. Will see how long before this comes on again.

It came back. Final solution: did a free scan at O’Reilly Auto parts and it shows ignition coil #3. I went ahead and replaced the entire 6 spark plugs and 6 ignition coil. That was the permanent fix. I only needed to replace one ignition coil but chose to replace even the spark plugs. Also noticed that the hesitation on taking off improved.

I was just told by acura dealer that the camara needs to be replaced and it is gonna cost me $2000. I am not sure if the camara is actually the problem.

Similar issue with my 2018 MDX 72k miles.. warning lights all on but no CEL. Lane keep assist, auto brights, forward collision, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation etc.. Took it to the dealer and they said there was a calibration update and that it had been fixed. 2 days later is still lighting up like a Christmas tree. Dropped the car back off at the dealer this am. 🥴

After another week Acura replaced the upper forward facing camera and covered it under the extended warranty. Just did a road trip over 800 miles this week since we got it back and haven’t had a single issue with it. Here’s to hoping that fixed it

@JNB Tuning, i see you posted this video about 6 months back. Have you seen this problem again? Has it been resolved with the fuel injector change ? i have the exact same problem 2017 Acura MDX with 67K miles. The initial problem started as a transmission problem when traveling at highway speeds and you try to pass someone. You accelerate and car made a whining noise and lost all power. I Went to the dealer and they said the transmission is failing and replaced the transmission at around 63K miles. Another 1500 miles later the christmas light effect you mentioned started, when you stop at a light and start. Car feels like its stuck on a lower gear and wont move past 8 - 10 mph. I went back to the dealer and was told its a problem with the transmission control harness and that will be $700 to fix, after the fix and about 3 weeks and a 800 mile road trip later the lights are back again. Now the dealer says they are going to check and see whats going on and it may be something else.

Very unfortunate you are having these issues! 2017 is when the 3 gen came out usually the initial cars for some reason are problematic. Later versions are usually the most stable… I had the same situation with my 2015 MDX. Luckily we had an extended warranty. Yes the issue have been fixed after the injections were replaced

I have a 2018 Acura TLX SH-AWD APEC. It's got 171,000 miles on it. Engine light came on and started blinking and the car started losing power at speeds at 65 MPH on the freeway. So I pulled over turn the car off and try to start up the car again and it won't start up and not even crank over. Do u know what this problem is?

My wife`s 2011 Honda Odyssey is doing the same thing. So far Honda hasn't found anything. Of course, it doesn't do it when we take it to the dealership.

If they are not getting any error code when scanned, (in my case a misfire) then it could be something else. This very same symptom happens as well when your alternator or battery is going bad etc.

Hello there , I just purchased a 2017 Acura MDX a couple of months ago and unfortunately have ran into the same problem , in my case the emission system plus the lane assists system and electric parking brake lights go on at the same time a few times already, the first time I disconnected the battery negative and it went away only to come back and is now on all the time , it is displaying the emission system problem plus the electric parking brake , watched a video where the purge valve was replaced and the emission problem went away , but just don’t want to start replacing parts without knowing what the problem is , what do you suggest? Really appreciate your advise

Hi I would suggest scan for faults first and foremost. That would be the best start.

@@JNBTuning had it scanned today and what was causing the emission system problem was the purge valve , went to the dealer and purchased it , thank you for your videos , I also need to install the oem towing hitch and checking the price was told it cost 657 dollars, ridiculous if you asked me , might buy an aftermarket one

I would say scan it have it be scanned first to figure out the trouble codes. That would be the first line to be able to aid you in troubleshooting.

I'm not happy with my 2016 acura mdx. Bought it new and drove 18k miles, and transmission went out and constantly jerk when downshift and on the gas. Right now, im having the Christmas tree lights on!

I had a 2015 same gen and had so much issues and some similar to your issues. We got rid of it and purchased the 2018. I would say so far the facelift is a lot better platform not perfect but a lot of the issues from the later models have been rectified. The biggest issue so far after 100K Km is the faulty injector but that is just a one off as injector could fail.

@@JNBTuning The transmission aggressively and forcefully shifted from park/reverse into drive. From reverse to drive the transmission would jolt twice. From park to drive it would jolt just once. It would still change into gear but in a very violent way. Dealer took about 10 days to install the replacement transmission.

Change the battery touch cables together after disconnected to hold computer memory reinstall battery computer will reboot turn your wheel all the way left and right and center wheel all done
