I haven't actually seen this series, so I was wondering why she wasn't tied up with the rest - but I guess it's a little hard to tie up someone who can just phase through their bonds. …also, being able to phase without being able to fly doesn't make sense - how do you walk through walls if you fall through the floor whenever you try, but I can see why that wouldn't be there, story-telling wise.

That's a bit of an... evolution for him (badum tish). When the X-Men first started out, he had no issue with killing a bunch of teenagers. He even infiltrated the X-Mansion and made personalized traps for the original five to kill them for revenge alone. Really in depth stuff like an enclosed room filling with poison gas for Marvel Girl, a frictionless hallway with spikes in the end for Beast to stumble into, and an HIV positive man for Iceman.

@@Ryzard Well, her abilities as Shadow-cat are she can shift her "substance" into a condition they called "phased". When she is phased, she can move through normal matter. It resisted her slightly, when she was first in the comics, so she could use the resistance like a yacht can use the wind, and move around. And she had to hold her breath, couldn't breathe while phased away from the solid world and air. When out of phase she was shown to retain the potential velocity of her body before she phased. If she had used her ability to escape that thing holding her, she would have dropped straight down. If she un-phased before she hit the floor, damage. If she stayed phased, down faster and faster into the earth. Maybe down so far she would die before she got back to air.
