Hi Lisa! We’ve been a big fan of your products and use the Sal Suds, Castile Soap, and the neutral hand balm pretty frequently. On the note of baking soda, I ‘recycle’ some of it in the kitchen. We use baking soda to deodorize our fridge and freezer each. On the first of each month, we swap about about a pound each out of the freezer and fridge. What to do with this now slightly smelly baking soda? We clean pans! I dump this soda into a separate jar by the sink, and anytime I get bits of food stuck onto a pan while I cook on my enameled cast iron or stainless steel pans, I dump a couple scoops of this once-used soda into the pan with a shallow layer of water and return it to the off but still warm burner while we eat dinner. At the end of dinner, the pan has cooled, and the baking soda has lifted any stubborn bits off the pan WITHOUT SCRUBBING! Any pan gunk just wipes away, then I use our dish soap made using mostly Sal Suds, RO Water, Kosher Salt, and a drop of the Peppermint Castile for smell to wash the pan. The fridge and freezer have no detectable smells, and the soda used to fix that doesn’t go to waste!]

Hi :). Just would like to say I love your products and I am your number one fan lol:)❤…. I also have a question ….. can I use the soft scrub mixture in a stone or tile or quarts type shower and for the glass doors as well …. Also will this soft scrub hurt the facets and granite bathroom counter tops …. I’m only asking bc of the vinegar in it and baking soda …. I don’t know how this reacts and if it will damage ? :). Thank you for responding when you have time :)
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner Жыл бұрын
Hi Kristy- Thanks so much! I’m glad my work has been helpful. You are absolutely correct to keep an eye on vinegar, which is an excellent part of the green cleaning cabinet, but can also etch certain stones and corrode metals. However, the vinegar in the soft scrub recipe is entirely consumed in the reaction and none remains in the final soft scrub. Baking soda, with its alkalinity does not pose the same problem to surfaces. It is a slight abrasive, and so I would suggest caution if you were talking about marble, but all the surfaces you mention are fine with it. The soft scrub is a great way to make shower doors sparkle!

@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica- Liquid soap bottle sizes 4oz and larger are recyclable. Empty the bottle and replace the cap to recycle. Also know that we exclusively use 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) polyethylene (PET) plastic bottles for all our liquid and pump soaps. PCR plastic bottles are made from plastic sourced from curbside pickups. This means that some of our bottles are made from 100% PCR PET and may even include some plastic from old Dr. Bronner’s bottles!

Hello, great video and lots of great information coming through to us! Ive been using coconut oil for my hair for a while now and I’m thinking how i can incorporate that (fractionated, obviously) into castile soap mixtures because for example hand soap mixture makes my hands very dry and this is even after adding coconut oil and tea tree essential oil. Can we not add additional oils like coconut or almond oil into Castile soap mixtures when to be used on our body? When using Castile as shampoo, can we not massage our hair with coconut oil to beat the tanginess(without having to use vinegar rinse) or add some fractionated coconut oil into vinegar rinse mixture? Thanks

@homoerotic85 4 жыл бұрын
I know this was meant for Lisa, but I have the answer! Lol Yes you definitely can, and should in my opinion add carrier oils (like coconut, grapeseed, sweet almond, Avocado, jojoba, argon, Rosehip seed etc.) to it for body products, I also like to add vegetable glycerin to body wash and hand soap it really helps bring moisture to the skin and even helps add more bubbles the thing I really like about it is when you rinse off it takes away the grabby feeling, your hands just smoothly glide over your body it basically makes it feel more luxurious. If I were you I wouldn't use tea tree essential oil, it is a drying oil which is one of the reasons why its good for acne. Lavender, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Ylang-Ylang and Geranium would be good ones to choose from. Ok the vinegar for hair, so castile soap is alkaline around 9ph so if you use that in your hair alone it will make your hair frizzy and brittle, the reason why you want to rinse with vinegar is because that will lower the ph level to more what your hair wants and needs, around 4-5ph level and you can add things to it just as long as the vinegar is there, a good way to do that is have a spray bottle with vinegar and add essential oils to it like Cedarwood, Rosemary and Peppermint (all really good for your hair also helps with thinning hair). I just made my favorite foaming hand wash I'll give you the recipe- that will also let you see how adding things to the Castile soap can make it amazing. 8oz. Glass foaming pump, in order add 2oz. Castile soap, 1oz. Grapeseed oil (or any that you have), 1 tbsp. Vegetable glycerin, 1 tsp. Vitamin E oil, 26 drops Patchouli, 10 drops pink Grapefruit, 6 drops Lavender, 3 drops Ylang-Ylang (I mixed those in a shot glass and covered letting it sit at least an hour to synergize that's recommended but you don't have to do that, I also added equal amount Polysorbate 20 to essential oils and put in shot glass you also don't have to do that it just blends everything together so it never seperates making it professional store bought like it never has to be shaken after made) stir it a little bit to get everything blended, an emersion blender is the best because it doesn't force air bubbles all in it if you don't have one just stir by hand then add distilled water (almost 5 oz.) and stir until blended. While I'm at it I will also tell you my favorite body wash recipe, you can make whatever size you like cause it's easy mathematics but I'll give you a smaller recipe so you can see if you like it...I can almost promise you will love it. Add 1oz. Castile soap, 1 oz. Aloe vera gel (not gelly or juice) 1 tbsp. Sweet almond oil (or jojoba), 1 tbsp. Vegetable glycerin 1tsp. Vitamin E oil, 20 drops Lavender, 20 drops Frankincense (again you can set aside EO's to synergize and add equal amount Polysorbate 20 if you desire) then stir until blended, again it's best with emersion blender but if not just stir by hand because a regular mixer puts way to much air in it. I hope you try these!! If you do let me know how you liked them! :-)

Hi there! There are two ways to tackle this. Option one is to sprinkle baking soda onto your toilet brush for extra scouring action. Or, make up the GIY Soft Scrub and let it sit on the sides for 10 minutes, then brush. You can find the Soft Scrub recipe here on my website: www.lisabronner.com/giy-soft-scrub-with-dr-bronners/

Hi Lynnetta- Thanks for watching! I think you're going to love the GIY Soft Scrub! I go through it rather quickly so I don't have a firm shelf life date for you. I'd say a few weeks. If it starts to smell off, then dump and remake and next time mix up half a batch to avoid wasting it. It can thicken up over time in which case, add in some warm water and shake or stir to mix.

Hi Lynne- Is this for laundry? If so, there's no need to pre-mix. Use 1/2 cup for a large load of laundry in a regular water, or 1/4 cup in an HE machine. Add 1 cup white vinegar (1/2 cup in HE machine) to the fabric softener compartment to leave fabrics soft and absorbent.
