Clear Tip: Mix soap with warm water and stir till soap is completely dissolved.

Hi Debi- I haven't tried this with non-Dr. Bronner's Bar Soaps, but I can tell you definitively that dissolving or liquifying our Dr. Bronner's Castile Bar Soap is difficult. That bar wants to stay a bar, which in most circumstances is good. You want your bar of soap to stay solid from first unwrap to final sliver. Who wants a mushy mess on their shower shelf? Our Castile Bar Soap is not directly a solid version of the liquid soap. They’re very close, as you can read about in my Liquid vs. Bar post 0n my website (www.lisabronner.com/liquid-vs-bar-in-dr-bronners-pure-castile-soap/), but those few differences, which are designed to make the bar soap hard, make the bar soap very difficult dissolve readily or liquify. It also doesn’t melt. (Word to the wise: don’t microwave bar soap.) To see how I was able to liquify the Bar Soap by making something I call Soap Cream, check out this article on my Going Green with Lisa Bronner website www.lisabronner.com/bar-soap-dilutions-cheat-sheet/.

Can I add alcohol to this mixture and it still be foaming hand soap
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner 5 күн бұрын
Hi Donna- Adding a small amount of alcohol of to the soap does not affect the cleaning ability of the Castile Soap. Above about 5% concentration though, there is a dramatic decrease of foaming, the solution becomes cloudy, and the alcohol interferes with the cleaning power of the soap.

Why to use vinegar after the soap? In another video you showed that mixing soap and viniger create gunk.

Hi there- For smudged or dirty glass, I like to start with the Sal Suds Lite since it's a bit better at removing grease and grime than vinegar. I then finish with the glass cleaner. If you're windows or glass is a just a little dirty, you can go straight to the diluted vinegar. And you're right! You don't want to mix vinegar and Castiel Soap! Thanks for watching my channel so closely! In this video I'm using the Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds, which is our household detergent, and as such doesn't have the same reaction with vinegar as the Castile Soap, which is a true soap. That aside, even if I were to clean glass with highly diluted Castile Soap, wipe with a damp cloth, and then go over it with diluted vinegar, there wouldn't be enough soap remaining on the glass to react with the vinegar.

What’s the best water to use for diluting the soap? Thanks
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner 5 күн бұрын
Hi there! In most circumstances, plain tap water works great for diluting Castile Soap. The dilution may be cloudy as a result of the Castile reacting with the minerals in hard water, but that doesn't affect the soap's effectiveness in any way. When you might want to use distilled or filtered water is when you'd like a clearer solution. In very hard water conditions, such as well water which contains lots of minerals to react with the soap, using distilled or filtered water in your dilutions helps mitigate soap scum build up or extend the life of your dilution.

@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner 6 күн бұрын
Hi Jane- It is important to take care with essential oils around pets. At too high of a concentration, they would very well make a cat ill. The essential oils in our soaps is highly diluted at 2% and then further diluted for this use. However, if your cats enjoy their garden time and may come into contact with this spray, I recommend using our Unscented Castile Soap which is formulated without essential oils and will be equally effective for this use.

Hi Ally- Unfortunately, due to regulatory requirements, we are not actively selling Sal Suds in the UK. At the moment we do not have a timeline for when we will be reintroducing Sal Suds to the market. I’m sorry for any inconvenience. In the meantime, our Castile Liquid Soap can be used for household cleaning purposes. Check out my dilutions Cheat Sheet for dilutions and recipes: bit.ly/CastileSoapDilutionCheatSheet

Can you do this with convection ovens and air fryers?
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner Ай бұрын
Hi Melissa- The most effective option I’ve tried for cleaning the oven is a similar technique but involves heating the lemons in advance. Quarter the lemons and put them with a cup or two of water either in a microwaveable, covered casserole dish or a covered pot for the stove. Either microwave for 10 minutes or simmer on the stove until the lemons are soft, but either way keep the pot covered. Then transfer the pot/dish to the oven, remove the cover, and close the oven for 60 minutes. All that lovely, lemony steam will coat the interior and loosen grime. Then open the oven and wipe it all away. If you don’t have lemons, boil several quarts of water in a kettle and pour it into an oven safe dish in the oven, immediately close the oven, and let the steam do it’s work. After the steam option, the next best thing would be a mixture of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and a little Castile Soap or dish soap, and scrub with a stiff brush. I have not yet dived into the world of air fryers so I can't recommend a way to clean them at this time.

What’s the difference between Sal Suds and Castil soap? Which one should we use for fruits and which for cleaning and why? Thanks
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner Ай бұрын
Hi there- Castile Soap is primarily designed for the body. The blend of oils (coconut, olive, palm, jojoba, and hemp seed) are designed to be the most nourishing to our skin. But because it is such a beautifully simple soap, it also cleans many other things amazingly well, whether it’s your dog, your sinks, or your floors. Sal Suds is our household cleaner developed by my dad, Jim Bronner (Dr. Bronner's youngest child). It is even tougher on stains and grime, and rinses cleanly and leave surfaces sparkling. Find my "Which to Use?" article that covers this topic more thoroughly, including when you want to use one over the other, on my Going Green with Lisa Bronner website at bit.ly/SalSudsOrCastile

Hello. Just want to ask of how to dilute Dr bronners liguid soap. For body wash. How many ML of water versus how many ML of Dr bronners liguid soap? Thank you
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner 2 ай бұрын
Hi Paolo- The water from the shower on our skin does the diluting for us. Apply a very small squirt of Castile Soap onto a wet cloth or your wet and scrub away. Now, while I don’t pre-dilute the soap, I know that some people do prefer this for any number of reasons. For a body soap, dilute the soap at 1 part soap to 6 parts water in a bottle. Another option is using a foaming pump diluted at 1 part soap to 3 parts water. In either case, I recommend a plastic bottle over glass in the shower and around the tub.

I was told to add a tablespoon of neem oil to this recipe And a lot of my plants started dying. Is there a different recipe or do you not like neem oil?
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner
@GoingGreenwithLisaBronner 2 ай бұрын
Hi Shannon - When you mix any oil and soap, the soap is attracted to the oil and forms spheres around it called micelles. Neither then are available to do the work you want them to do. While I haven't used neem oil myself, I understand that it acts as both a pesticide and a repellent, which sounds like it might have a longer impact than the Castile soap, which is not a long term repellent. However, I'm reading about some irritant potential as well. I would recommend either using one or the other, or if you wanted to use both, don't use them at the same time.

Thanks so much for purchasing Soap & Soul! I hope you find it helpful. With a house water softener, you can likely use either one for general cleaning. For laundry, I do prefer Sal Suds because it is slightly better on whitening whites and is more cost effective than Castile Soap. A simple way to get an idea of how your water will react with Castile Soap is to fill a glass with a cup or two of water and add a small squirt of Castile Soap. If it turns white, your water is hard. If it stays clear, it's soft. Here's the link to my KZbin video with more of a how-to: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn6ul4GniK6XpZI
