The National Pension Scheme (NPS) is an Indian government-sponsored pension system for individuals. It was launched in 2004 by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) to provide retirement benefits to Indian citizens.
The NPS offers two types of accounts: Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 accounts are mandatory and allow only withdrawals after the age of 60. Tier 2 accounts are voluntary and allow withdrawals of up to 25% of contributions anytime.
The NPS provides a variety of investment options, including equity, corporate bonds, government securities, and alternative investments. It also offers options for individuals to manage their own investment portfolios.
The NPS has become increasingly popular in India in recent years, especially among young professionals. It has been praised for its low costs, flexible investment options, and tax benefits.

Nps for the self employed isn't too good. But for the salaried, where the employer puts 14% contributions on top of your own contribution, that makes it gather a very high corpus

Will i get tax exemption for this financial year ? 2. Can I decrease my contribution to 5000/10000 starting from APRIL i.e next financial year? So that I don’t have to contribute 50k

Sir, In case of a Central government employee, Employees contribution is 10% of Basic+DA and Employers Contribution is 14% of Basic+DA. Is Employers Contribution totally exempt from Tax under section 80CCD(2)??? Or Aggregate amount under Section 80C,80CCC and 80CCD is exempt upto ₹1.5 Lakhs Only??

@cyberbully7718
@cyberbully7718 Жыл бұрын
Not really far better tax saving investment options are present in the market some even offering a annuity at maturity, NPS is a failed investment scheme which is only running by the mandatory contribution of the Government employees without it, it would've been scrapped a long time because even at the best of its days the Private sector dosen't even looks at NPS as an investment option it see's it more like throwing money down the sewage.

Sir what happens to the Tier - 2 amount at the time of maturity ? How will be taxed ? Should we transfer funds from Tier -2 to Tier -1 for higher tax efficiency ? Also how to extend the term from 60 years to 70 years ?

@AakashKasaundhan Жыл бұрын
Is it safe to assume that the taxation will be done either like Equity MF (if equity is 65% or more) or like Debt MF (in the other scenarios)? There is no STT applied on NPS Tier 2 unlike the MFs - would this impact the taxation? Please elaborate how capital gains tax would be applied Tier 2 account in the following scenarios: 1. If composition is changed from 100% Govt. Bonds to 50% Equity and 50% Govt. Bonds without redeeming 2. If redemption is done after many years of the investment and the composition was changed multiple times during the holding period.
