Yay!! Good choice. This tarp shouts out "high quality"! I really like the Dyneema reinforced corners and the easy packability. 👍💪😍

Line-locks look awesome!! One of the big feedbacks I had about my older tarp was how to manage slack, my other is the tarp is too small! My feet get wet in rains

Sounds like a great tarp! The dyneema corners and the holes cut out for tent Stakes or sticks was an awesome touch and I look forward to purchasing one in the future. My Borg tarp works great for now!

Looks like another great, new product, Jonas. Since funds forced me to wait to get a Borg when I got my Draumr XL, I was waiting for a camo version. Now, I may just get a Skjold instead.
@AmokEquipment4 жыл бұрын
Thanks:) A camo tarp version is in the works but there has been som delays from our manufacturing partner unfortunately so we do not have an ETA yet. Was hoping to get it out this Spring but looks like we have to postpone it for a while.

Haha, typical! I'd waited for ages to order my hammock because I wanted a tarp as well. Finally gave up and ordered 2wks ago - now I'll have to order the tarp separately! :-D (once it shows up on the website - it's not listed yet)

Thanks for sharing this info, what link are you using and are you able to send us a screenshot of the issue to support@amokequipment.com ? Thanks. Anyways here is a link that takes you directly to the product: www.amokequipment.com/collections/hammock-accessories/products/skjold-tarp

@@AmokEquipment Thanks, the link works. I was using www.amokequipment.eu/ and using the SHOP menu in the top left - can't navigate to the tarps at all. Changing the Region from the dropdown in the top right, it seems only US has an Accessories option under SHOP; everywhere else just shows Hammocks, Sleeping Pads, Gift Cards.

HI, why is there a seam in the middle ? can we not eliminate the seam ? since most trap in the market doesn't have a seam in the middle
@AmokEquipment4 жыл бұрын
Dear Simon. Most tarps in the market have a seam along the ridgeline, but most hammocks in the market are very long and not so wide. Our hammock is the opposite, and we need the sides to be longer than on normal tarps for gathered end hammocks. The seam can not be eliminate unless fabric manufacturers offer a 300cm wide fabric, which they do not. They offer it in 150cm width, and thus there is need of a seam somewhere. We could have a seam along the ridgeline also, but would then need 2 additional seams across the lower head end and foot end of the tarp. Best regards- Amok

Amok tarps are too small... period. Driving rains gets under and around my Amok tarp. If you guys made a larger version entirely out of Dyneema I would buy one, but just another (too small) nylon tarp regardless of color is a complete waste for anyone buying, I guess selling them is another matter. I love the Draumr and use it often but use a proper (large) Cuben fiber tarp to stay dry. Swing and a miss guys. Maybe building a tarp on nothing but the final sale price isn't the way to go.
@geraldhenrickson74724 жыл бұрын
I feel a slightly larger size would be wonderful yet know several fellow hikers who feel the present tarp size is just fine. Everyone Amok owner will have an opinion but should NOT assume everyone feels the same as they do. As for me... I am hoping this new fabric is similar to "old school" 6.6 silnylon as used decades ago. .
@brianbassett43794 жыл бұрын
@@geraldhenrickson7472 It's my opinion then that any tarp is "fine" when it's not raining or raining lightly with no wind... but it's better to have more tarp than you need rather than less. Probably 40% of the time I don't use a tarp at all but when I need one I want it big enough to keep me dry and the Amok tarps don't under anything but the best of circumstances. I left Silnylon behind except for pannier covers, so that "when" they take a hit they aren't expensive to repair/replace. They cover waterproof panniers with waterproof roll-top bags holding gear... more to keep things clean than dry.

We acknowledge your viewpoint, but we are very happy with it regardless:) This was just a first step with a new manufacturing partner. As Jonas mentioned we will be working on other designs for 2021, but first we had to get our house in order and this is just a piece of the puzzle. All the best to you Brian:)

Camped on the bottom of a waterfall in valley two weeks ago, woke up dry. camped in 30mm rain and sidewind on Saturday, woke up dry. The Amok tarp is, in my honest opinion not too small. they serve their function and give me a spacious sleeping spot. Draumr XL is the hammock of choice aswel.
@matthewtaylor89053 жыл бұрын
@Brian Bassett, what would you recommend as a replacement tarp for the Draumr (regular size) not XL. I just bought one and the Skjold is out of stock and I’d like to buy a tarp to use for the hammock.
@markfarrell26714 жыл бұрын
I was very excited to watch the video then I became very irritated and disappointed when I realized that the size remained the same. Unfortunately my feet get wet and I have resorted to using another company's tarp and the color matches my Amok. I have the green Amok and it is important to me that it blends well in the woods. The dark tarp is very noticeable in the woods. Very silly decision Amok🤔
@AmokEquipment4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to annoy you that much;) If you have found something that works for you that is great, but the size is big enough and we have tested this in severe weather. And to keep your feet from getting wet you can pitch the tarp towards the footend of the hammock: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3XFcpqKmbeqoas There will be more colours and options in the future that might suit your need better. Thanks for taking the time to offer your viewpoint:) Best regards- Team Amok
