Do you suggest getting one of them for both guitar and bass? Can the same effects be loaded onto one device to cover both instruments?

They are separated devices, cannot be combined in one devices. They are funny and complete compact solution. If you like this type of solution that’t great!

I've been searching and I can't seem to find anyone demo'ing the bass pod express 'bassman' model but with 6 string guitar. I was thinking of picking one up because of the weird synth / modeling things and to use it with bass synths going into it and occasional with 6 string guitar and the bassman setting. Do you think that would be a good use for the bass pod express?

Yep, I think you can use it with different instruments, It is supposed to work on bass frequencies so if you use synth with bass frequencies why not?!
