Is it just me or is the previous gen x7 better in looks and convenience with the physical buttons? A gear toggle?? But why, the previous gear lever was just perfect with the Crystal control knob. I think the only real upgrade the car got is the backlights but other than that I would stick to every part of the 2022 model and not this one?

@@ClaireYunFarronXIII Im not saying it's bad that it looks like that, it just does. Any sort of light source coming from anywhere other than the road (at night) is distracting. It's just common sense. My car has a version of that but more subtle, you get used to it but there is always something in the corner of your eye.

I have ambient lighting in my mercedes and it was never distracting at all. Maybe turn down the brightness a bit or use colors which aren't to bright. I always loved them in the dark.

As an X7 owner, I really like the older exterior design than the current one. In the interior though, I like the bigger screen and the upgraded ambient lighting. As many others have been saying, don't get rid of the physical buttons, especially the aircon buttons. It's really difficult to find something from the menu while driving. Example I like to toggle between recirculated air and outside air, today it's hard to do this while driving as there is no button.

totally agree. I have a current gen x5 and I love the layout with all the physical buttons for most used functions. I'm not a fan of this new minimalist design and the giant screen looks 'stuck on' versus the current generation's screens that actually flow with the dashboard.

It’s as if they took everything that was right about the X7 and ruined it. The air vents & arrows that light up on the dash are an overkill and quite honestly tacky in design. Also the head lights ruin the classic look of the BMW halo lights for the last 40 years. Also the changing of M50 to M60 and not giving it a V12 like the M760 is disappointing. A lot of mistakes made with this redesign.

As x7 owner.... The screen we have now is the perfect size. Dunno why they make thing with annoying Mercedes sets with all those colors and screens. Also a/c physical controllers is a must for me... Other than that the car was and still is perfect. Can't wait to try the new engine.

I don't mind the new exterior design. I think more automakers should consider split headlights so that the active lights (high and low beams) are less glaring to oncoming traffic. I don't understand how eliminating physical buttons for HVAC and radio controls is luxurious. It takes several times longer to make changes via a voice assistant or multi step menu touch screen. It's also more distracting and less safe to use the touch screen because there's no tactile feedback and you have to look at it.

I guess that engine could provide part of frame functionality (opposed 4 pistons, 2 cyl., 2l, 200-250bhp, alcohol cooled and driven with supercapacitor braking energy recovery small buffer for rear wheels only without long and big power shaft, silencer should provide air intake functionality and must end at very front of a car). In fact this car doesn't provide luggage at 6-7 person version. Slightly longer rear, sliding doors could provide access to third row of seats. Two rows of seats should provide 3 person capacity, resulting in 8 person car. All seats should be independed, and mechanical (low axis of move). Torsion-bar active suspension (laser scanning) could provide variable height and weight load functionality within compact space. All cars waste doors, seats and cockpit inside space. All cars are very poorly silenced, both passively, as well as actively. Sliding front doors - these could be handy in narrow parking environment. Low space for front wheels result in long turning radius - it is engine fitting limited. German design is beautifull and usually set a trend:). Post Scriptum: I'll never could afford it, but it is fun to view the same car fashion again:). From my experience making reliable classic design is more "eco", than funny electrics (after few years). Future will be turboshaft driven:). Alcohol combustion gases is pure CO2 and water (which could be reused for injection) without any sulphides and nitrides. It does not enforce lithum market speculation and could be home produced in solar thermal collector during summer.

the issue with the 40i sport you don't even get close to 20 mpg bmw is claiming. I've tracked my mileage on normal city driving and i only get 10.5 mpg.
