The Bluesbreakers' Beano album must have been a revelation at the time of the release in 1966. No one, and I repeat NO ONE, had ever heard lead guitar being played like that with that kind of tone ever before. Every one who's ever picked up a Les Paul since 1966 owes Eric Clapton big time. In fact, Gibson had DISCONTINUED the Les Paul way back in 1960! It was brought back in 1968 thanks to EC. Even Slash credits Clapton as an influence. Learning this version of Hideaway is a rite of passage for any budding rock guitarist IMHO. Great tutorial, Sir!

I was so excited to find this lesson. Then I saw that you teach every song on the album... Well bloody done my man, thank you so much! These lessons are on point and just the right speed if you already have a good lead playing background. The banter is great to listen to as well, and often very informative. THANK YOU MIKE!!! Come to Canada and say hi someday.

Mike, jaw droppingly good - you really got inside it - best lesson ever of this version. Puts me even more in awe of the 21 year old Clapton who worked it all out from a handful of old 78’s.

I had just started watching you and I thought "here we go again another yank who has no idea what the music was really about" then you spoke! What a surprise a modest skilled muso who has knowledge of tone and feel. I am Old and was there at the start of Mayalls Bluesbrakers and have seen them in many guises, our band even supported them in Bristol, so its good to have found you. Thank you for your uploads .

Came across your lesson by chance! There are loads of really good guitarists and teachers out there, and you come pretty much up there with the best of them. Good job. I grew up with Cream and now at the age of 66, being able to play some of their stuff is brilliant. Thanks for that. 🎸

Hi Mike, I've emailed a couple of times but never commented here. You're a brilliant guitarist and teacher and some of your jazz stuff shows your amazing versatility. But for me, this is where you belong mate. All your work on the blues masters is fantastic and so accurate and the nuggets of detail you show can be taken away and used in my own limited way. Pretty much all your EC & Blues stuff is stored in my favourites and I find something new each time I re-visit. Out of all my subscribed channels, yours is the only one I go to straight away to see what you've got for me this time :-) Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!
