The supercharged Range Rover with the 4.2L V8 engine originally had 400 BHP engine but they were upgraded to 430 bhp from the same engine until 2013 and then the 5.0L V8 engines came with 500 bhp from the engine

Can’t beat a Rangie, run a td6 myself used each day and down rough tracks for work and even in heavy snow etc never stuck just keep going. Would love a 4.2SC.

@@ALL_4_WHEELS had this one about 2 years, had a p38 before for about a year. The Td6 is a good motor, mines been great as a daily for work and family duty’s, including long trips, fuel is about 22mpg local and 30 on a run, reliability has been 100%, plenty of invoices for service before I got it and under my ownership, 1 gearbox service (due again soon) oil change every 6-7000 miles and full service yearly including diffs. It’s needed normal items like drop links, front lower arms and new battery (critical on them) they do go through suspension parts due to weight of them, not far off 3 ton. My advice is get one that’s been looked after, avoid ones covered in chrome and 22 inch wheels, look after it, parts are cheap and no labour if you do your own spannering. Then you’ll have a good vehicle, they get so much bad press mainly though people buy them and expect to run them like a fiesta or less then one problem leads to another then whole car is falling to bits. Weak point on td6s is the GM gearbox, if serviced is ok but keep £2000 for full rebuild to one side then it’s all good. Non are immune to gearbox failure but td6 are most common. If you go for later one avoid 3.6tdv8, great when it works but turbo failure is common, and costs a fortune to rectify, that’s if there’s no damage to the engine. 4.4tdv8 are good but holding value, that’s why my next will be 4.2sc, cheaper to buy and very reliable. Hope that helps.

The Range Rovers all have an automatic gearbox especially any from 2009 through to the brand new models never had one with a manual gearbox and never had a problem with driving them off road

@@ALL_4_WHEELS Yes, it was a tough part again, with narrow places. I don't know if there will be any new parts with this R/R (would love it! 🙂) , but I would give 90-95% chance, that it will cope with every challanges what the others will / would be able to complete. Not just (or not mainy) because it's supercharged, but because it is very capable by default and also the bodylift capability is a nice plus.

The smaller wheels means less weight on the tyres and it’s advantage for the Range Rover with 20 inch wheels and the weight of the car with the big engine

@@ALL_4_WHEELS thank you for the kind reply! The Range is unbeatable to me, i am doing roughly about 35'000km per year travelling between Switzerland and Serbia. The comfort, luxury and speed on the highway, with the capability to go literally anywhere is still mindblowing to me. I went to the 4x4Gradisca rally a few weeks ago, no additional adjustments required, just hop in and go. Btw: the transfer case is from Magna Steyr, the same like they put into the G-Class! And if you consider to buy one: a lot of things can be done by yourself, the parts are not so expensive (BMW). 3.6 TDV8 is a powerhouse with a modest consumption ~20mpg! Thx again! I need to come to UK once again, looks awesome and has been too long already! 👏👍

A L322 with decent AT’s or MT’s will outperform most vehicles, in controlled comfort too. The L322’s with a factory rear locker is almost unstoppable

I own 99 TD5 110 expedition defender and 2007 L322 4.2SC - and they are the best cars. I was also suprised by offroad capabilities of l322, but i thing underbody protection in this car is a must. In few first weeks of ownership i had to replace 5 or 6 radiators, blocks of ice got pushed to the radiators (i think there is radiator for every type of fluid in this car:) And also oil pan has plastic cover. I wish they made car with defender space for interior sleeping and camping and comfort of l322

If the rangey didn't make it to the finish it's because it drank all its fuel. I had a diesel rr3, and the torsen centre diff Is a huge help. Very under rated vehicles.

Nice vid mate! Did not expect range rover would tackle all this with absolutely no drama at all. However, none of you gents don't know bolox about tire pressures, mate LOL. Not one single vehicle in this vid has the pressure dropped down for the offroad trails 😂. That's one reason why red defender is that bouncy and is sometimes struggling. Its tires are perfectly round on every terrain type 🤣🤣🤣. Other than this, keep up the good work! Great views you have there in Wales

When your out laning your usually constantly switching on and off tarmac throughout the day, so stopping to air up and down all the time isn't really practical. What I do is run a compromise pressure of 25psi in my 35 inch BFGs.

Goes to show how rubbish the pickup trucks are off road, poor suspension and no traction aides, too much overhang and way to long a wheelbase. Also, WTF happen at the 17min mark with the R reg 90 (ending OCD).Where they in High range or something????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not sure what happened with the 90 I think it was in high box,pick up trucks are not the best but if you’ve got a bigger enough lift so less overhang with bigger tyres should be fine as long as the drive shaft’s (cv’s) don’t snap! 👍
