Thanks for this. My cats are always neutered, so i don't have to worry about this. But we had a stray cat give birth in my neighbours garage many years ago and i took in one of the kittens, he became the most beautiful cat and much loved friend for 14 years

When you spoke of a "sock drawer," you reminded me of years (as in "I was a teenager," years ago), when my parents were doing some renovating and painting, etc. They'd moved a wardrobe out to the shed to get it out of the way and keep it safe for a little while. Much to our surprise, a neighbourhood stray had found the wardrobe and given birth to some cute little kitties. Unfortunately, we couldn't take them all in (although the mother was a sweet thing😊). We ended up involving The Cat Protection Society down here, but I really wish we could have become a little kitty farm!

Missy knocked on our door in late 1999, and then I noticed she was getting "fat" in one spot...off to the vet. He said that 4 were on the way :P She gave birth on the 5th of October 1999. We heard a cry from the birthing box as we ate dinner. I had a quick look. There was one kitten already out and off to the side. As I watched, a kitten came out, Missy picked it up and moved it next to the first one. I figured then that she'd have no trouble being a Mother :) The next morning there was a note that Missy had had 4 kittens. I had a quick peek, and Missy looked up at me. I stroked her head and went to work. I didn't touch any kittens for a while, but they were moved at one point into a basket in a wardrobe out of the way. One day we found her and the kittens in the middle of the bed. I'd wake up in the early hours to a puddle of love in the middle of the bed...4 purring kittens and a purring Mum :D One day I found her hunkered down in the hallway, and unresponsive. I spoke to her, stroked her, tried to move her, then she looked up at me with the bleariest eyes I'd ever seen on a cat, as if to ask me "Why did you wake me? This is the first decent sleep I've had in ages!". I felt guilty :P Over the next 19 years, they grew up, grew old, and one by one they passed. Mother Cat (Missy) I think made it to 19 years old. The first-born, Misty, definitely made it past her 19th birthday.

What did you feed them and how many times did you take them to the vet? Now a days, they make it law?
@thhseeking5 ай бұрын
@@caracarolina732 I fed both wet and dry food. I'm not sure what you meant by "Now a days, they make it law?" Getting them desexed? It may be law in some places, but that doesn't mean that everyone does it :( But Mother Cat was desexed once she'd weaned the kittens, and the kittens as soon as recommended by the vet. All in one go. I think I got a bulk discount :P

In response to Alison Hillary ", Thank you for your encouragement and compassion and insights. I've got to get this figured out for her "Rita ", it's been a year now and I've grown attached to her. I almost obsessed with wondering if she's ok, where is she, where are her kittens. How can I catch her without hurting her or myself or her babies? She knows she's got me as her one dependable non threatening kind friend in this cold hard world. I'm determined to help her and as many others like her.

I took in 3 feral kittens a few years ago and they all ended up being pregnant already. The one I was most bonded with wanted me by her side through the labor. She was terrified of the first kitten that came out of her, attempting to get up and run away from it before it was even out of her body. So I had to calm her down and show her how to clean it up. After one demo she started to get the hang of it, but continued to cry up at me from time to time, needing encouragement to stay with them and keep them warm. Her 2nd kitten was stillborn, and the 3rd and final one took a long time to come out, and was fine, but mama was seriously sick afterward for like an agonizing day and a half or something. I didn't have the money to take her to the vet, and thank heaven she pulled through it.

What about a Kitty I have living in my back Yard that I'm desperately trying to help her. She's too wild and Ferrari to bring her inside. She has very slowly started to trust me but she still only let's me feed and water her and talk to her. But never let's me get any closer. . I want to help her! I want to figure out how to get her fixed too. This will be at least 3rd liter in a year.

Oh poor baby! Yes, the poor girl needs to be retired as a mama. It's so good of you to care. If you're looking for suggestions, reach out to some of your local animal rescues and ask if they do TNR. TNR stands for trap, neuter (or spay), and return. They'll trap her, bring her into a safe space to have her babies, then spay her. They'll keep her with her babies while they're still nursing. Once the kittens are weaned, the rescue will have been caring for mama long enough to know if she's truly feral, or if there's a chance she could be adoptable If she's adoptable, they'll try to find her a home. If she's truly feral, they'll release her where she was found, because that's the closest thing she has to a home. Her kittens will be fostered, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and placed in loving homes. And for those cats, the cycle will end and they'll all get to live out their lives without making more stray cats. Better for everyone.

My parents were bonefide cat crazy so at times we’d have one or more preggers cars. Watching the labor & delivery was amazing! Cats PURRR while giving birth! Thought to induce pain relief.

I'm also trying to get the money for an outside cat house to get her in so she's protected from weather, elements, other animals. Then get her fixed and re release her in my back yard because I'm her only friend and help

You guys should get back to the things that made this channel so popular like in depth food reviews. Having them tested, this time include things like phosphorus levels. Many brands have changed their recipes over the last few years and came out with new recipes. Or even just do some brands that have been around like fancy feast senior. Their Naturals line has good ingredients but the phos levels are off the charts. These are things people need to know about.

Does anyone know what is the recommended time to take your cat to the vet for a post natal check? How soon after the birth? X

Hello, Could you please make a video about mating in cats and importance of mating in cats. Is mating good for unneutered and unspayed cats? Mating in male cats, related health, importance, etc. A video about this topic would be very helpful. Is mating good for cats’ overall-health if they are not neutered? Need to know. P.S. I often watch your channel here on yt. I appreciate your dedication, hard work and time you put in to create all the videos for everyone out there. Thanks

We just took in a stray cat who had a belly full of worms, so skinny, and I think is pregnant! We took her to the vet for deworming. Are there any vaccinations that it's important for her to have before giving birth to help protect her kittens? Thanks, your video was very reassuring!

My neighbor is wondering if feral cats will keep their "feral" after being fixed? She was having a rat problem that she had spent a small fortune trying to combat with little success. Then along comes this feral cat (who has had kittens) & rat problems disappeared. So now, she'd like to keep what she has with their prey drive to keep the rat issue under control, wants to get them fixed, but is concerned that fixing them may tame the feral nature. I'd assume their age may have something to do with some portion of the equation? Thanks for your videos, they're great education. 😊

I'm no expert, but I'd assume that, intact or not, they've still gotta eat. So unless she starts feeding them excessively, they should remain good hunters.
