How powerful are the lyrics sung by Abrar. "Mai ni mai. Mai ik shikra yaar banaya. Choori kuttan te oh khanda naahi. Mai dil da maas khavaya". Morbid, yet sophisticated, and so very intense. I tried to look up the source and voila! Written by none other than the great Shiv Kumar Batalvi (also sung by Jagjit Singh in the past). Sung soulfully by Abrar as well. Heart-wrenching stuff.

People who don't know Punjabi should learn it and learn about Shiv Kumar Batalvi, a modern prince of Punjab. I agree with Rohail to put two of our treasurers on the same track. Shiv was a brilliant poet and this song sums up his tormented life ...He won't want it sung it another way...this song was written when shiv had knives going through his heart...He sung it live on bbc few months b4 his death...Abrar has honored his memory by singing he wanted it sung with passion...and love...
