During the Battle of Al Khandaq, the believers found themselves entirely encircled by enemy tribes. Surrounded by the constant threat of death and defeat, they experienced profound despair, a sentiment described in Surat Al-Baqara where Allah ﷻ articulates their feelings.
أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِكُم مَّثَلُ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِن قَبْلِكُم ۖ مَّسَّتْهُمُ الْبَأْسَاءُ وَالضَّرَّاءُ وَزُلْزِلُوا حَتَّىٰ يَقُولَ الرَّسُولُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ مَتَىٰ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ
"Did you think that you would enter Jannah without being tested like those before. They were touched by hardship and tribulations until they were shaken and the Prophet ﷺ and the believes said 'When is the help of Allah.'" [Surat Al-Baqara, Verse 214]
Sometimes in our lives, we feel similar emotions and we wonder where Allah ﷻ is. The answer to this question is answered in this Ayah - though often forgotten in our hearts. "Truly the help of Allah is near." In difficult times, how do we ground ourselves and remember that Allah’s ﷻ help is near?
