Great video and a delicious looking turkey. I've had mine for 5 years so I know it tastes even better than it looks. 2 things to add. 1. Charbroil makes a collapsible basket which makes life so much easier for turkey cooking and clean up, it nestles into those four slots cutout on the top rim. 2. The more you cook food/season your can, the shorter your cook times will get. My first time a 12.5 lbs turkey took over 3 hours, last Christmas I did a 14.5 lbs turkey in just over 2 hours. The more you cook the better this thing performs. Enjoy your Big Easy, I'm sure you already do.

I have had the Big Easy for 5 years. It is a great product and is as simple as it looks. A couple of years ago, I bought one for my brother because he always wanted me to cart mine to Thanksgiving, which is three states away.

Lol! I'm liking it so far and have the Thanksgiving turkey in it as I write this. Besides the fact that it cooks good and quick, it frees up the oven so my wife and I don't have to start cooking at 5:00 am since we need the oven for several other things.

Bird looks like it turned out great! I've had the larger version for a couple years now and love it. I'm lazy, so I line the bottom with foil and poke a hole in the middle for the drippings to drain out so I don't have to clean it out after each use

Great video of a great cooking device. I have owned mine for many years now and to this day it is still our favorite cooking method for Turkey. One suggestion...clean out the cooking vessel after each cook because once you find out that those drippings are liquid gold, you will never throw them out again. Makes amazing gravy! Thanks for sharing your video!

For the first two years I hated my big easy because it would take me four or five hours to cook a fourteen lbs turkey. What I found out two years later was that if you crank the propane tank open real fast and light up the big easy the gas comes out slower thru the regulator. I should have been opening the valve much slower.
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 жыл бұрын
I wasn't aware of that. I have found a few times the cooking took longer than what it should have and I would bet that was the likely cause since I just open the valve quickly. Good advice and I'll be more concious of opening it slowly in the future. Thanks!
@DL-mn6pg
@DL-mn6pg 2 жыл бұрын
If you notice a smaller short flame it is because of this safety feature in all the new propane regulators. Just disconnect the hose at the bottle and wait a few minutes to bleed off the pressure. Reconnect the hose and then crack the propane tank valve open slowly. Just did my 12 lbs turkey in 2hrs. Thanksgiving 2022.

Thumbs all the way up!!! Thank You for this, especially how to set up the fryer. A friend of mine got the Char-Broil Big Easy Oil-less turkey fryer and invited me over to do my Thanksgiving (2020) turkey. We social distance and just dropped the turkey in and just let the fryer do its magic...and magic it did!! I have been cooking turkeys every which way you can imagine for over 30 yrs and I must say this was the very bet turkey ever!! I usually hate left over turkey, but this one I looked forward to every day after Thanksgiving. Turkey sandwiches were the best!! So I have ordered mine and due to high demand, mine is coming on Jan 6 from Amazon.

@jeffsmith6837
@jeffsmith6837 Жыл бұрын
Big easy hands down. The only draw back is cooking time. If your frying one it might take a hour vs 2.5 to 3hrs with the b.e. Just get a good wireless thermometer, stick it in the thickest part of the turkey and wait.
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack Жыл бұрын
I agree. The Big Easy does take longer than oil frying but that's the only con. I've fried turkeys in oil before but don't plan on doing it ever again unless I needed to cook a *lot* of turkeys. Not having to deal with buying the oil and the messy cleanup is enough but I think the turkeys cooked in the Big Easy come out better and jucier plus you aren't restricted to smaller sized turkeys either.

@@AllAmericanMack The Big Easy SRG is little larger. The inside pot 18"H x 14"W and the basket 14"H x 11.25" W. I go with the larger version because can grill a large enough 15lbs turkey and room for couple racks of rib. There is plenty of room on the grate for other thing as well.

@@AllAmericanMack The SRG has been discontinued for awhile. The ribs and chicken that I cooked turn out great. I wish Weber or other manufactures come out something similar with better quality build. Will you clarify when the screen lid is needed vs not needed?
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 жыл бұрын
I only use the screen when it's colder outside and occasionally at the very end of cooking for additional browning. I live in the deep south so it's not uncommon for the temp to be in the 60's even in winter. I will only use the lid if it's in the 40's or colder and as I said if it hasn't quite browned enough when it's nearing done.

The burner ring on the bottom heats up the inner walls which cooks the food. I know it seems like it wouldn't work well because the top is open but not only does it cook great, it somehow cooks faster than the regular oven.

The Burner is directly underneath the Cooking Drum all the way around......the Cooking Drum gets Hot and Radiates Heat towards the meat from the side all the way up.......what Heat is lost out of the top has already been thru the meat and done it's purpose......really a great and simple product.....You can cook whole Chickens, Pork Butts, etc in this Cooker.......

I've never tried it but would guess that if two would reasonably fit inside, it could be done. The drawback may be that the lower meat may cook faster and you would have to shuffle things around. It would be interesting to know though.
