Just thinking that when he recorded the track, he was so modest and self critical that he probably thought 'ok that's just about passable.' Normally you look very relaxed when playing. But I can see with this project that you're pulling out all of the stops. One of Allan's (many) meisterworks. You need a beer or two after that. Did you ever meet Allan?

I suppose I'm not as relaxed because I only spent about two weeks working this up before filming. Usually I'll spend more time but I wanted to finish this so I could get onto a new project. I never met Allan but his road manager bought my Giant Steps CD and played my cover of Countdown for Allan. One time a student of mine ran into Allan on the subway in New York late one night and he tried calling me but I had already went to bed.

Thank you for inspiring the rest of us. You put out a lot of useful lessons and I've learned a lot already. I've been doing the finger horizontal stretches but still the 3nps pentatonic/ 3-1-3 shapes are taking a while to get used to. It's really exciting though! Like you said the 2nps shapes lead to bluesy phrasing often and I want to play more wizardy stuff like you can. I can already tell that integrating it with my economy picking style and sweeps will take me to another level of artistry. being able to play this music must be a blast and someday I'll know the feeling!
