I can totally understand why some people dislike this. As a guitarrist and musician, I can appreciate the incredible technique and inventiveness, but as a listener, I do recognize that it sounds very much unmelodic, building tension in strange directions, seldon resolving, sometimes to dissipate in a somewhat anti-climatic dissonance... It's not the kind of sound I listen to when I want to relax, definitely. But Allan was a genious like few. His practicality in adopting the headless guitar is a sign of a that: a man for whom the music alone mattered, and anything extraneous to it should be reduced to its minimum. RIP great AH.
